Update: Dec 2022 visit to Moonee Beach Hotel. Dogs are now allowed in the outside eatery. Nice atmosphere lunch spoilt by yapping dogs at the dinning table. There is no cover over the childrens playing area. The day I visited, my granchild could not use the slipperjy dip due to hot sun on the play equipement. There is a frame over the play area with no shade. The meal was acceptable. Dogs at the nearby table spoilt my eating experience. I will give this hotel a miss in the future. Old Review. Moonee Beach Tavern situated near Moonee Beach Market Complex. Family orientated Tavern. I ordered a meal from the menu. 400gm rump steak served with potatoe chips and salad with pepper sauce. $30 Cooked vegetables with potatoe mash were a option. Steak was tender and cooked medium to well done as requested. Satisfied customer.

Stayed in a tiny house with my dog. Space was clean and stylish with air con. Quiet and overall nice place. My only problem was they bait for wild dogs and foxes with 1080 poison. The resort cares for the beach, and so i question how is it “dog friendly” when you’re putting out poison that will kill my dog in a horrible writhing death? Stop 1080 poisoning. There are better, more compassionate and safer ways to deal with problematic animals. You can walk to the shopping center for a meal, and a little coffee stand at the beach park. Plenty of kids there but not screamers.

Great place for lunch, dinner or even just catch up over a beer or cocktail. Conveniently located off the highway near the Moonee Market shopping place, but still plenty of atmosphere with their ‘Mexican-styled’ bar and coastal decor, and lively outdoor garden. Family and dog friendly. Now onto the awesome part… the great range of food on the menu. They cater to dietary requirements, and the food is delicious. We have been when it’s both very busy and noisy (ANZAC Day) and a quiet weekday lunch… all enjoyable and we received great, friendly service at all times.

One star is generous. This untidy, unfriendly tavern was such a dissapointment. When we arrived we realised lunch was closing so quickly rallied up the family orders. As a mum I am always trying to organise every one else so had left my own decision making until the last minute. As I am standing at the counter about to order when the rude manager sitting next to the restaurant barked so rudely 'dont u know were closing, hurry up'

As i checked my watch we still had 5 minutes. The aggressive, unwelcoming and lazy behaviour from the manager (Peter Skinner) left a bitter taste in our mouth. As a party of 9 we were looking forward to settling in to an afternoon of food, booze and betting whilst the kids played in the amazing kids area. Admittedly this is the ONLY thing going for this place.

When the food arrived the pizza was disgusting. I mean terribly bad. Soggy pizza which admittingly left me throwing up for a majority of the afternoon. Dont order the smoked chicken pizza. Im not sure if I was repulsed by the soggy pizza or was actually unwell from contamination. 100% my fault for eating it and not sending it back. None the less if you have kids its a great place to let them play just dont expect service with a smile or good food. If Peter Skinner spent less time on his laptop and more time walking around checking the state of the grotty pub it could be a great place. I put this all down to terrible lazy management. What a shame as we had $ to burn. Do yourself a favour and head to seaview...

This review is only for the gaming room. My husband and I and another couple went for a Saturday afternoon drink and a little flutter on the pokies this past weekend and could only stay for 30 minutes. There are either no designated smoking areas or they are not enforced by the staff. People were smoking from one end of the very small, dark and uninviting room to the other. The stench of smoke was so thick that two of our party who are ex smokers couldn't even cope with. It's like management desperately wants to hide the gaming area of the hotel away from the public eye and nose as the amount there was a high number of hi-vis vest wearing workers coming in in groups to gamble (in private) while we were there just for that short period. One can only think that a blind eye is turned to the all access smoking so they get the big revenue from the machines. Our group was just looking for a little 'flutter' fun and a cool drink on a hot Saturday afternoon, but with the tight conditions and no room to stand together to chat, drink, and socialize it was a truly horrible experience. Two of our group are locals that hadn't been to the hotel for more than a year and have now said they will never go back. For an occasional, social pokies flutter this is the very last place we...

A good meal let down by the service. We’re staying at Saphire beach and the park manager suggested the hotel and the courtesy bus. We showered and tried to ring. What an ordeal. Went thru the automated telephone and pressed 4 when prompted. Nothing happened and it just looped and played the message again…..5 times we tried. Drove to the pub and used the table ordering service to order our food. 45 mins later we still haven’t received. I approached the counter and after checking said they hadn’t received. Had to show proof of purchase and they then started to make our meal. In between there was a large group at the bar so I used the table ordering again and ordered a beer. 10 mins later no beer. The crowd was gone and the bar staff were talking amongst themselves. I approached and showed them my order. They went over to the ticket machine and went oops, we didn’t check. Useless having and ordering service they don’t check or doesn’t go through, and a courtesy bus that you can’t order through their rubbish...
