we came to lord howe in mid december and had a few visits to this restaurant and enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere very much. But the last day of our visit we went to have breakfast before our flight and had ordered avocado toast and asked if there was specific nuts due to my sisters anaphylaxis. the waiter had asked the chef, who said there was just other nuts that she was not allergic too, so we ordered it. whilst my sister was eating this she started having a reaction and looked visibly sick and also crying. i went to tell the waiter as i’m a waiter myself and know the process, and the waiter seemed quite apologetic. from then on we were ignored and not asked if my sister was okay. we stayed in the resturant for quite a while because my sister couldn’t get up. the owner was actually there and didn’t come up to us which i found quite shocking. i understand that accidents or miscommunications can happen, but the biggest factor for me was that after my sister started having a serious anaphylactic reaction, none of the staff seemed to care or ask if she was okay. They were also obviously aware that the island had limited medical services which makes this situation a lot more difficult...

The food at Anchorage is good but they’re sorely let down by the uniform unfriendliness of their wait staff. Not just short of a smile, they’re often all the way up to short or blunt. They certainly don’t go out of their way to help. Evenings are a fine dining experience. The restaurant is pretty at night—decorated with gas fires and fairy lights. Menu has a limited selection (3 x entree’s, 3 x mains, 3 x dessert) with mains around $45-50. Note that the restaurant won’t drop you back at your accommodation until after 1930. So, for those with young kids who prefer an early seating, you’ll find yourself waiting around or simply walking ‘home’. They don’t make exceptions. During the day, they serve coffee, ice cream and a typical selection of hot and pre-made, cold lunch options as well as offering a selection of fruits (eg blueberry punnets, fruit salads). They bake good bread throughout the day. Get in early for your pick, pre-order of simply keep popping back for bread fresh out...
Read morethe 2 younger girls front of house came across as rude, not what you would expect when spending $50pp for dinner.
I was going out for the day so looked on their website for when they opened to get some pies and it said 8am, I arrived at 8.45am and was snapped at saying they don't open until 9pm. I went to the pier for a while and came back and saw someone inside being served so guessed they were open so went inside, I waited at the counter whilst the girl made a coffee likely for herself as nobody else was there, she reluctantly acknowledged me and took my $30+ order, she then expressed to her colleagues that we don't open to 9am as I was leaving which was not called for.
The sunday roast rib eye fillet was not a rib eye fillet, it was a roasted silverside or similar cut, a rib eye will have a have fat, this was just a lump of dry meat with only sinew on the side.
The scotch fillet was excellent prices similar to main land, wahoo a little dry but ok.
The bakery pies and...
