We bought 2 Banh mi for an early lunch. Both were very generous with the filling and looked amazing. Unfortunately they lacked the flavours of a really good Banh mi. From the photo, there is no added sauce that brings another level of a great tasting rolls. Maybe good standard for Newcastle, but we were expecting more.
Hubby wanted to also try a pie too. The pie pastry was crisp and cooked well, unfortunately the filling didn’t really have much flavour.

Read moreDon't know why people say it has the best pies in Newcastle as they most certainly are not. They are mediocre at tops and I've had supermarket frozen pies that tasted better. I tried 3 different pie varieties and all only just receive a passing mark score of 6/10. Plus its CASH ONLY which by today's standards is very inconvenient. No parking out the front either. You have to walk a distance and cross 2 sets of traffic lights to get there if you park in carpark...
Read morePassed through Newcastle and stopped here for some takeaway as it was the only place open on Anzac Day and what a pleasant surprise. As Aussie viets we absolutely love banh mi as well as a good pie. The pork and ham banh mi and curry pie was hands down one of the best we’ve had of each! Also took away the tofu banh mi for vegetarian friend and they raved about it. Will happily return if we ever pass...
