I recently had the pleasure of visiting onyx cafe, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern decor and rustic charm.

This morning I attended your establishment with a well known local man to purchase a coffee. When making my order for myself and this gentleman one of your staff members loudly drew attention to the fact this man was often given free coffees by your cafe three days a week and that he was not getting one today. I politely explained to the cashier that I was buying this man's coffee, however the other staff member did not hear me and continued to tell the gentleman "not today", and "we give you three coffees a week, that's heaps". Not only am I disgusted at the the way this man was spoken to, but to announce that he is given charity in the manner she did and belittle him infront of half a dozen customers is absolutely deplorable!! This situation could have been handled a lot better with some compassion and people skills. Unfortunately I am unable to review your cafe based on the previous five years of trading, however I find it somewhat difficult to believe you would encourage someone who is making your female staff and customers feel that uncomfortable and unsafe to return by offering them a free service three times a week, regardless of their situation, this does not make sense to me. When I quit cigarettes, Coffee became my new cigarettes. I searched and still search almost daily for new a great coffee. I noticed that most big name coffee shops had a nice roasted beany strong nice flavour. But I also noticed a few juggernauts who ontop of this also provide a more complex flavour profile.

One that leaves you asking the question what is that..? What am I tasting right now.. is that.. is that mint.. or.. is that.. is that vanilla essence.. etc etc..

Of these juggernauts there were 2 stand outs absolute stand outs absolute coffee monsters!! The best!!

And trust me I tried them all from Darby st to Beaumont.. to Newcastle CBD, Sydney, Gold Coast.. Brisbane.. Victoria.. and back again..

For me and I mean personally..

Onyx Espresso Bar purely because of both shops both provide the absolute greatest coffee in the lands..
