Pegs — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

I just want say a big thank you to the staff at Pegs. For the last 2 years my mum has lived at Amaroo aged care home, just up the road from Whitebridge. On a weekend I would pick mum up and take her to pegs where she enjoyed the interaction with the staff and enjoyed the coffee and food. Mum would also just like to sit there and watch the people coming and going. It was just a nice atmosphere for her to sit for a while.

Sadly mum passed away about a week ago after a short illness.

As her son I’m very grateful for the time I spent with her at pegs and I would like to thank everyone who worked there.

You may not know mums name ( I’m not sure if she ever told you ) but you will remember she the lady that has 6 sugars in her weak, black, extremely hot and very full coffee.

Went to the Cafe due to the ratings and unfortunately we left disappointed. The sourdough was hard it cuts up your mouth and you can't cut it with a knife without mashing up all the food on the plate, sliding around. The same sourdough was served for the kids menu and my daughter could hardly bite it. I jad extra poached eggs on my mashed avocado and ive never had poached eggs like them, it was basically just the yolk and hardly any egg white. The coffee was sour and bitter, just not enjoyable at all even masking it with milk having a latte, it wasn't enjoyable. The service was great, the staff very friendly and atmosphere amazing. I have been to this cafe many times with my daughter - it is her favourite cafe so we make a regular event when I am in Newcastle . It has become one of my favourites. Today we had a wonderful brunch. The order for coffee and tea was omitted from the order and I needed to reminded them. The youngest of the waiting staff took responsibility and apologized even though it was not her fault (she did not take the order) - now that is teamwork!
