Cellos Pizzeria — Restaurant in Newcomb

Heard about this place so thought we'd come check it out and grab a pizza to take away. The atmosphere and the array of people coming through the door convinced us to stay and dine in. We asked Cello what was good and he recommended some of his favourites and before we knew it, we'd ordered antipasti and pizzas.

Antipasti was all top quality - the meats were great but the cheeses were so unique and amazing - one of them a provolone that I'll never forget. Also had some arancini which was awesome (definitely a combo of cheeses in there) with homemade sauce for dipping.

Pizzas - base was airy and chewy, with a great sauce on top. Again, the quality of the ingredients were obvious. Favourite: patata e salsicia - a beautiful pork fennel sausage, rosemary potato and spicy salsicia combo. Also had the Sicilian - big bold salty briny flavours that will put hairs on your chest.

I don't know how but we still had room left for dessert. When Cello introduced his mum, affectionately known to all as Nona, and told us she is responsible for the desserts (as well as the pasta), we found ourselves ordering one of everything. I would die happy having that tiramisu as the last thing that passed my lips - perfect blend of rich creamy cakey goodness with coffee-intense moisture. The cannoli was super crisp with a vanilla custard that was super fragrant as well. Cello offered us some rum babas to try and we ended up walking out with a jar.

Hopefully this place gets bigger so more people can enjoy a great night out with their family. A great local find and definitely our new go to...

I’m glad you responded to my review before I even get to write anything and describe my experience here. It’s very telling how you don’t think the experience of Ubereats drivers as part of your business’s customers experience. It explains why I was treated badly. Dealing with Ubereats drivers is part of your business and I am only here to rate the appalling and disrespectful treatment I experienced by one of your staff (the old man). I went inside and there was no acknowledgment or eye contact by any one of your staff, it was almost like i had to beg for their attention! I really had to go check and ask again (after the 5 minutes) because I was being dismissed. I had to say “excuse me” repeatedly for someone to look at me. Then when I was handed the order like 10 minutes later. I took it and left only to be then followed by the waitress who said it’s the wrong order. I went inside again and the old man was aggressively talking to me that it’s not ready yet and that he already told me to wait for 5 minutes… completely dismissing the fact that I actually waited more than that! Instead of apologising he was rude and told me to either wait or cancel. Of course I respect myself and my time so I canceled and left.

I was disrespected and I wasted 20 minutes of time because you and your staff think Ubereats drivers are replaceable

Please go ahead and discuss this with Uber support. I have already explained to them my experience and immediately after I left...

Well the meal did not disappoint. I had read all the wonderful reviews so i ordered through Uber Eats the Penne Matriciana. It was delicious and i will def be ordering again. Thank you for making such delicious food.

I have now ordered from Cellos about 5 times and its the best pasta ive ever eaten in Geelong Tonight i had the Gamberi and it was absolutely delicious along with the complimentary garlic pizza. Thank you for your amazing food and for the exceptional service. Ive now had well over 5 deliveries.
