Quite possibly the BEST Indian food I’ve ever had. I’ve been to this restaurant twice with my girlfriend. It’s a lovely date spot. The interior is beautiful. Simple, clean and classy. The first time we came here we were still dating. We ordered the lamb samosa, lamb biryani and butter chicken. The lamb biryani was my favourite and quite possibly the best biryani I’ve ever had. The butter chicken and lamb samosa from what I remember was good, but the lamb biryani was absolutely in a league of its own. The bowls they were served in didn’t look very big, but believe me they’re much bigger portions than they look and we were stuffed. In our second visit, we ordered the lamb biryani (hot) again, lamb samosa, beef vindaloo (hot) and two garlic naans. The dishes were definitely chilli. But they were delicious. I would describe the chilli as a dry, spice type of chilli. I would only recommend hot if you’re a chilli lover! As my nose was running and I was sweating bullets. I had to take a 5 minute breather after finishing it. They also provide you with white yoghurt sauce that stops your mouth from burning if the chilli gets too much. That sauce is in itself delicious. The naans are thin, they come in fours. When they’re first served they are hot and crispy. Make sure you order a curry that’s got plenty of sauce to dip these in. Every time we came here the staff was incredible. They’re very friendly, polite and helpful. Always smiling. I cannot recommend this place enough. Amazing value for money. Do yourself a favour and try this restaurant if you’re in Orange. (You’d want to make a booking as there almost always booked out).

It was my first time in Orange, and the restaurant was suggested to me by my friend who visits Orange frequently. Finding a parking around the restaurant should be easier. We greeted by the staff when we entered. I liked the fact that they wrote the special menu on the wall and you won’t find those on their menu/ website. Specials did sound and taste special, and I could spot couple of those curries which you wont find on most of Indian restaurants. I ordered onion bhaji, murg kalonji (specials), paneer makhani (specials), murg saagwala and couple of garlic naans. Onion Bhaji: the presentation was nice and different. They served it with a tamarind sauce. Taste-wise it was average. It wasn’t that crispier as I expect it to be. Four big pieces made up entree. Murg Saagwala: they served generous portion of curry. I requested it to be on the spicer side. But, it was beyond my tolerance and the staff took it away. They apologised for making it too spicy and offered me to order something else. Panner Makhani: this was from the specials which I ordered in place of chicken saagwala. The curry was very rich. Paneer was fresh and tender. Good on taste and flavourful. Murg Kalongj: this curry from the specials stole the show. Brown gravy and nicely cooked chicken. Unique taste. A bit difficult to explain the taste. If you see it on the specials - order it. Tastes perfect with a naan. A bit higher on the cost side, but it won’t disappoint you. If you are in confusion - ask the staff and they are very happy to assist you. They surely do look after their customers.

Maithil Rasoi in Orange, NSW, offers an impressive dining experience that brilliantly showcases the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine. We were particularly drawn to their blackboard specials, which included the Til Golki Chicken Tikka, Saffron Chicken Tikka, Seafood Sugarcane Lollipops, and Rasoi Fried Chicken—each dish bursting with unique flavors and perfectly balanced spices. The Til Golki Chicken Tikka was a standout, featuring a delightful nutty crunch from the sesame seeds that paired wonderfully with the tender chicken. The Saffron Chicken Tikka brought a subtle yet luxurious infusion of saffron, adding a depth of flavor that felt both delicate and rich. The Seafood Cane Lollipops were a creative and flavorful fusion, perfectly cooked with a slight sweetness that complemented the fresh seafood. To top it off, the Rasoi Fried Chicken was a delightful crispy indulgence, served with Kashmiri Naan that was soft and aromatic—an ideal pairing for the fried chicken. Beyond the fantastic food, the ambiance of Maithil Rasoi was warm and inviting, creating a comfortable yet elegant atmosphere for our meal. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Their spot-on service truly elevated the dining experience. We highly recommend Maithil Rasoi for anyone seeking authentic Indian flavors with a creative twist. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Orange, this restaurant is not to be missed!
