My visit to Cook Park was deeply unsettling. The galahs and cockatoos kept there are in terrible conditions. They are confined in small, rusting enclosures with stagnant water as source to drink from. These beautiful birds show alarming signs of stress and loneliness. When you approach them, they desperately try to get your attention with a strained “hello,” and if you walk away, they let out piercing screeches. This behavior is a clear symptom of severe distress and isolation.

What’s even more appalling is a sign near the enclosures that attempts to justify this cruelty, claiming that “it was customary during the Victorian era...” We are far beyond that era, and continuing such practices today is shameful and outdated.

Cook Park’s treatment of these animals is an embarrassment and a disgrace. This experience left me heartbroken and questioning how such hypocrisy can exist in a public space meant to promote nature...

Cook Park truly is a gem in the heart of town. It's amazing how a space so tranquil and peaceful can exist in the midst of all the hustle and bustle.

I particularly enjoyed learning about the history of the park while exploring the different sections, such as the Bagonia greenhouses. It's always fascinating to discover the stories behind these types of public spaces and to see how they have evolved over time.

The park is flat and easy to navigate for people with limited mobility or disabilities.

The stunning old trees are a highlight of the park and add so much character to the space. It's amazing to think about how long they have been there and how much history they have witnessed.

Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to Cook Park to anyone looking for a serene and informative outdoor experience. It's a great place to escape from the chaos of everyday life and connect with nature and history at...

God-tier park. Perfect for all ages. It’s got it all. ✔️Duck pond (with a bridge) ✔️Stunning Flora ✔️a Fernery ✔️inclusive and adequate amount of swings ✔️Rose maze ✔️market stalls selling homemade jams etc. ✔️a dragon named Kevin ✔️excellent climbing trees ✔️huge, old, wise trees with labels to identify them. ✔️ talking native birds who have rescued from homes where owners have passed. ✔️ water fountain ✔️ bbq features ✔️loads of open green spaces ✔️a gazebo comparable to the one in “the sound of music” encouraging you to unapologetically live out your long lost calling of musical theatre showtunes to park goers and local bin chickens. 10/10
