Being a serious fan of Indian Cuisine, I have sought out every Indian establishment in every part of Australia that we have lived and visited. Whilst most types of cuisine are well represented in Australia, Thai, Italian, Japanese etc, I feel Indian food is let down badly. Very badly indeed. Being English, I have grown up on fantastic Indian food (chicken tikka masala being second only to fish and chips on the UK’s list of favourite takeaway food) and was very spoilt having multiple award winning restaurants in and around my city, which I frequented often (probably too often). I feel this qualifies me to some extent to say that this is so far the best Indian food I have eaten within Australia. It was authentic, well cooked and full of flavour. I had high hopes as I often work nearby and can smell the kitchen in operation throughout the day which indicates to me that they are cooking the food for the length of time it needs to be cooked which gets the flavour into the meat the way it should! Sorry to rattle on but I badly miss good Indian food. I am so happy to have found this restaurant. The staff are friendly (and they tolerate me), the portion sizes very fair, and the menu extensive enough. They are now licenced but I understand that you can still BYO (but you’d best check first). Finally, I never leave reviews. Never. I am genuinely that excited that I felt I needed to write this! My advice. Give it a try. You won’t be...
Read moreCafe Tandoori may look a somewhat drab from the outside but they have what counts; great food. I've been a number of times over the past few months and it's always been delicious, they have a good variety of dishes that should suit just about anyone. I do think though that they have compromised in some areas to suit a western pallet mostly in the strength of spices, but me being one of those westerners doesn't mind. The size of the meals may look small when presented but I've always left being more that satisfied. To go with that the prices are reasonable and if you're looking for a deal the lunch combo is perfect. Finally the staff have always been welcoming and understanding, which makes for an all round...
Read moreThis place advertises as having good atmosphere, but when we picked up our takeaway it was nothing but a few booths and tables with plastic chairs. Glad we weren't eating in as it was bleak and drafty.
We always order a Malai Kofta and a good Indian restaurant always impresses. This Malai Kofta was unappetizing, unflavourful and grey. We also order the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was ok. The garlic naan was dry and unpleasant. I will never return.
There were plenty of 5 star reviews, but I think they may have employed their friends and family to boost the rankings, because it far less than five...
