Our family had a wonderful time at Hot Wok! After driving down from Brisbane/GC, we decided to stay at Port Macquarie for the evening. After a scrumptious chinese meal, we originally wanted to go to the local buffet nearby but were disappointed at the less than impressive offerings. A quick drive around town and my inner South Park and childish instincts were to visit this very cliche looking Chinese restaurant. When we walked in, I expected a kid doing his Kumon/tutoring work in the corner but that's where the cliche ends. Our family was pleasantly greeted by two young Aussie girls who were both friendly and made the atmosphere feel extremely welcoming. Hearing the sizzling steak come out of the kitchen for other tables, we immediately ordered it - together with the fried rice, Cantonese noodles, honey sesame chicken, ginger and garlic prawns as well as a fried ice cream to share at the end. What could I say but WOW, the food here is fresh and flavoursome - not too spicy and definitely large portions. No MSG or saltiness as well which is important for us. Overall we had a fantastic experience here and would love to visit again, we'd rate it as one of the best Chinese restaurants we've dined and we are Asians ourselves!

Disgusting attitude and customer service. Ordered take away from there for the first (and last) time last night. We were looking forward to our meal and started eating our entree (fried dim sims). To my partner's disgust she had just bit into a deep fried lump of plastic bag knotted inside the dim sim. I pulled it apart while my partner took a video as we were shocked at what we discovered. This put us off the entire meal we ordered from there. I rang them straight away to let them know what had happened and their response was "well mistakes happen" and "would you like a refund for your dim sims". The guy taking the orders didn't sound apologetic at all and I said I'll send them a video of what we had found. Their explanation copied from their reply is pasted below. We'll never be eating from there again that's for sure. "It's a knot from the bag of mince the meat comes in and it found its way into the mixing of the ingredients to make the dim sim. We are so this has happened but accidents happen we make over 300 a week and you where the unfortunate to find the knot of the bag."

Very authentic restaurant. Staff very welcoming, friendly and attentive. We ordered the special fried rice, beef with black bean sauce and crispy lemon chicken, meals were delicious the lemon chicken was perfect not sickly sweet like other ones I've tried this one had a real lemon taste. Prices were fair for the amazing dishes, we were very happy when we left. The only thing that would've made the experience better was if the restaurant was warmer. If I lived here I would go here all the time, very busy place so that was great to see, highly recommend 😃👍

The food is good. Tasty and good quantity and value. Been here for dinner two nights ago and lunch today. Dinner service , food and atmosphere were great. Lunch was a different story. We arrived at 1.30 for lunch , ordered our drinks and meals and then the issues began. Entree was served…fine. Then the main was served immediately after….not fine. Then the music was turned off. We were asked if we wanted a takeaway container before we had got even halfway through our meals. Then the air conditioning was turned off at the switch, right over our heads. I mean seriously….Ive worked in restaurants most of my life and this behaviour was very poor and unacceptable. Clearly these were very strong hints for us to leave and I will add that we were out of there by 2.10and the website states the restaurant was open for food until 2pm. If you want to close early, let us know as we walk in so we can make a decision on whether to...
