Brumby's Mareeba — Restaurant in Queensland

I dropped in for a loaf of bread & spotted the Vanilla Slices. My husband & I love a good Vanilla Slice. Boy were we disappointed. The slices at the front of the cabinet looked absolutely delicious, full of custard & looked so fresh. The one I was sold looked old, dry & a very small amount of custard, one end had none at all!! So I asked for another one. As the store was getting busy I just took it & left the store. It wasn’t until an hour or so later (yes it was refrigerated) we tucked into to it. Not much to tuck into but a dry, old, minimal custard, vanilla slice. Boy were we “had”. I’m guessing that the lovely fresh slices were positioned at the front of the display cabinet the old ones were at the serving side & sold to us unassuming customers. I will avoid this place...

One of the highlights of Brumby's Bakery was the wide selection of freshly baked bread. From classic white loaves to multigrain, wholemeal, and specialty breads, there was something to suit every taste and dietary preference. The breads had a wonderful texture, with a crusty exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. They were perfect for sandwiches, toast, or simply enjoyed on their own.

Super helpful and great customer service! Stopped by to get a loaf of bread while walking my dog and one of the ladies saw me from behind the counter and came to the door to get my order and bring me the bread so I didn’t have to tie my dog up...
