This place in the last 5 months has it rock bottom, new owners that can not speak english, a guy??? That has rotten teeth and a rotten attitude yelling abuse, but all night seemed to just stand in the same place doing nothing, if the owners can not see what this single man??? Woman??? Has created for this restaurant then they will not last another six months, am I being harsh? No I have eaten in many many restaurants all around the world, but Honestly this is a sinking ship. The two people that served me one a younger girl and the other an older Asian lady, done everything to make it a pleasant as they could 5 🌟 maybe you ladies need to find a restaurant that promotes your abilities, instead of being dragged down by one Male ??? staff member that just seems to be on the take. Check your Till if she's??? in charge. The food, well again has changed since owe last visit, bland, some meet? taste like fish, the vegetables rubbery, the only taste was all the spices that try to distinguish the taste of fish, that we did not order. Never Again.
First who am I speaking with? Are you the owner? If so could I have your full name and direct contact number. I would be more than happy to visit the restaurant after I know who I am speaking with and have a sit down conversation with the owner, but was told when I asked for the owner that she could not speak English by a lady?? at the register the one with bad teeth, who I highly suspect is not doing China Pearl any good what so ever. Read moreMy family and I were visiting our grandfather as he is getting on and wanted to celebrate his 90th birthday all together, at his request we searched for a good Chinese restaurant in hervey bay and stumbled across China pearl.
In all honesty, we have not had a worse chinese food experience, the first bite of the fist dish was spat back out and immediately sent back to the kitchen, do not order seafood here!
As the mains came out it was plain to see that something was terribly wrong.. all the meat looked and tasted the same and smelt off. Particularly the stir fried beef had a very pungent ammonia smell.
The best thing on the menu that we had would have been the coca cola, upon leaving the restaurant incredibly dissappinted we all started developing a creeping headache, almost as if we were car sick, but we'd only just stepped outside the restaurant.
That was only the beginning of our problems..
I feel sorry for the cleaner of our hotel rooms this morning as they had a mammoth of a job to deal with when it came to our single bathroom, the four of us were squirting from both ends off non stop for a period of 8 hours, every mouthful a reminder of china pearl. My biggest worry was for my grandfather, luckily we all pulled through, with the help of cold towelettes and decent electrolytes.

We ordered on New Year’s Day via door dash and post order, called the restaurant to ask for extra sauces (which are 50c). We said we could pay over the phone or pay cash, and I would have been happy to pay the card costs as well. The Manager first said no, then said yes but just one of the sauces on the house. Fine, is what it is.
The order came. No extra sauce, they completely screwed up one order that was meant to be a chow mein but there were no noodles in sight. The vegetable curry with tofu had no tofu, which is more or less the main component.
The person I spoke to on the phone was very nice, but the dismissive manager in the background, not so much. Topping it off, the rest of the food was not good at all!
Given I was willing to pay for the extras and said that (they don’t have an extra sauce option on DoorDash), I thought the dismissive attitude was not condoned. Especially as they went ahead and didn’t provide it anyway.
Lastly, they should say on the DoorDash that the spring rolls have meat in them. It only mentions vegetables, and when one of you ordering is a vegetarian, it’s obviously a disappointment! Especially when they messed up the two other veggie...
