We visited the hotel on Saturday evening with a group of ten people at this hotel.
We were able to reserve a table over the internet which was easy and quick to complete. We also received text messages as reminders which was great. Great system that works very well.
The reason we have left two stars is because of two reasons:
The quality of the food The Quality of the entertainment
THE ENTREE The person at the end of the table and I both ordered bruschetta. What come out was nothing close to quality bruschetta. I took one bite and couldn't swallow it. I asked the person at the end of the table if they liked their bruschetta. Their exact words were; "It's disgusting!" And I had to agree. Management please talk to your kitchen and perhaps revise your bruschetta construction.
When the lady come to collect my entree plate she asked; is there something wrong with the food?" I said year it wasn't very nice at all and nothing like standard bruschetta. She said sorry about that. However if that was me I would have offered something else such as perhaps a drink, a dessert, a voucher for next tome or even a refund. Customer care is king right? Look after people like bars of gold so they spread the word and keep coming back.
THE MAIN MEAL I ordered the pork chop for my main meal. The food was fresh but the pork chop was really small and didn't really represent value for the money paid. There was no apple source or gravy which is kinda standard when you order a pork chop as your main.
Most in our group were reasonably happy with their meals.
THE ENTERTAINMENT To be honest this was the worst duo I think I have ever heard. The singer couldn't hit one correct note while singing. I really felt for the female singer who was trying her best but just couldn't sing. I felt embarrassed for them because it was so bad. The singers that were in the other room of the hotel were not much better. We wanted to stay and keep drinking but it was so bad we just left. Seriously, if I am to be honest, the hotel would have been better playing some tunes from Spotify and saved the money paid to the duo. I understand supporting local talent, but when its so bad, it reflects on the hotel standards. Just saying..
Overall the venue was clean and the staff were friendly enough too. The theme and fit out of the venue was modern and pleasant. With a couple of tweaks to the meal and entertainment quality our next visit would likely...
Read moreI haven't been to the Stock since the refit and change of ownership. Worth a revisit. The rough front bar was always amusing to drink in but it's now been considerably gentrified and attracts a different clientele.
Food - As expected without being stellar. Bruschetta for starters, chicken schnitzel and Wagyu rump for mains. The balance of topping on the bruschetta was very nice - everything worked without something being overpowering.
I didn't get too many comments from my wife about her schnitzel apart from mumbling "it's good". My steak was ordered medium rare (and arrived as medium rare) - but didn't have a great texture - problem appeared to be with the product and not the kitchen. Not exclusive to this outlet - sadly it's difficult to get a good quality steak in Toowoomba at a pub.
The chips had some kind of batter on them and were certainly pleasantly crunchy. Salad - what is it with honey mustard dressing everywhere you go these days? Drink pricing was very reasonable with a good range on tap.
Service - Good without being outstanding.
Atmosphere - I love the refit - very open planned and quite enjoyable to...
Read moreThe new renovation is a welcomed and pleasant surprise. The Public Bar is very large and can be quite noisy when full. Plenty of on site parking but it is rough and uneven. The Carpark needs to be resurfaced for the ease of access to the rear wheelchair accessible entrance. It is very popular with young families with kid's on a budget. The Stock offers affordable budget meals for both lunch and dinner with slightly more expensive choices. All meals are large generous servings. The vegetables are devine, the chips and homemade salads are also impressive. My meal choice is the roast of the day, usually Pork and the Tempura Fish, cooked to perfection, moist and juicy. The entire premises caters for wheelchair access especially the expansive bathroom facilities. Brand new clean and fresh which the staff maintain during the busy evenings. I was surprised there is plenty of available dining table's and a reservation for 2 is not usually required. But I would recommend booking for a larger group, especially on the weekend. I am going back when I return from Tasmania. Congratulations on a...
