German Club Cairns — Restaurant in Queensland

We came in for dinner and a function which was a club birthday. On entering the hall we weren't greeted with a hello, just pushed to a table and told to sign the visitors book. Not a nice welcome. Then we ordered food which was precooked and kept "warm" under a bain marie and was not very warm at all.

The brass band was terrible and totally off key and drowned out by the drummer on the drum kit, which isn't appropriate for a brass band. The lady singer had an excellent voice when she could be heard over the music which drowned her out.

Went with the whole family, including our dogs, for the schnitzel night, hoping for a great schnitzel and a nice night out. Total disappointment: burnt and over salted schnitzels, over salted chips. Red wine had to be sent back, seemed to have gone off, opted for a not preferred beer. Atmosphere? Screaming kids running around, parents just sitting and enjoying themselves, couldn't care less, while we had to put up with their terrible kids and have our dinner ruined, while our dogs were very well behaved, sitting under the table, not making a...

I went a few times to have a beer and a pretzel. I ordered the Red Dragon beer a couple times and it was pretty good but today it tasted sour for some reason. One time when I asked for other beer recommendations the bartender forced a 12 dollar beer onto me saying "You'll like this", it was pretty average for 12 bucks. Also the pretzels are dry and taste store-bought and they rarely serve...
