Imperial Tavern — Restaurant in Queensland

I don't like to leave negative reviews, however the meal last night was truly abysmal. My friend and I thought we'd give the Imperial a third shot. The last 2 meals were overpriced, nothing to write home about and they completely messed up the orders without so much as a complementry soft drink or apology.

Last night we were starving marvins. In that state usually anything tastes awesome. Jesus, Joseph and Mary, couldn't be more wrong. Chilli green lipped mussels, no flavor. Not a hint of chilli, just red bits that looked like chilli in a greasy, yellowish sauce that was salty and flavourless. The mussels themselves were second rate, chewy and inconsistent. Disappointment city.

300gm steak medium - rare was closer to medium. The sad, tiny serving of pepper sauce on the side was mushroom sauce. Couldn't be bothered asking to swap. It would probably come by the time we were done. At least the chips were kind of okay. Don't know how you can stuff up steak, yet here we are. At least it was edible and we could share that.

The prawn toppers? Spare yourself. Frozen prawns drowned in a bowl of butter. However, if that's your thing, get into it.

Owner was rude as. Not just to customers, but to staff. I was second hand embarrassed.

Won't set foot in there again. Rather have baked beans on toast. I have a whole new appreciation for Macca's.

Great food with large plus servings (try a pizza& you'll find out)and always excellent friendly, super clean and great atmosphere. However we were VERY DISAPPOINTED about the "public holiday surcharge" that we very reluctantly paid rather than go elsewhere due to the time of day)I understand fully and respect penalty rates for public holidays and realise that business have to consider their options and to decide if they will open or not due to these costs. BUT really what are those extra wage costs against how busy they were and the large groups and the amount of people that like us that travel to be with family & decide to go out and enjoy a long weekend.The staff appeared to be from overseas and were the very best at what they do and we appreciate them for their work and i hope that they enjoy the full benefits and guarantees of our Industrial system (not like other countries that pay low wages & staff HAVE to rely on tips to survive) So from now on we will be more careful & check before deciding on where to enjoy a meal on a...

We went to the Imperial Tavern last night for the first time and definitely the last time as well! One dish was made differently to what they told us, one of the sides came out when we pretty much finished everything else and only after reminding them, AND my Veggie burger had A 1CM BIG ROCK in it. I couldn't believe it! I bit on it and hurt my tooth a bit. When I told the waitress, she took my plate away with the rock on it and said she'd talk to the chef and come back. Well, she never came back. That rock was honestly huge and we all couldn't believe how you can not see it when assembling a burger. It is a proper health risk!!! Super dissappointed in the food, service and how they were incapable of handling the situation. Didn't get any compensation offered neither a refund. Absolutely ridiculous.
