We were really excited to try this cafe for lunch while on a road trip due to its great reviews and interesting-sounding menu. The food was delicious and lived up to expectations, fit-out of the indoor and outdoor areas makes it a lovely spot to sit for a while, however the experience was disappointingly let down by front-of-house service. Memorably incompetent and the worst attitudes on our entire Qld trip, where almost all service was friendly and excellent beyond expectations.

Given the upmarket style of cafe, counter service only was a bit of a surprise. None of the staff seemed very happy to be serving customers and more keen on chatting amongst themselves. They managed to mess up our food order, and to forget the coffees I ordered to takeaway after we were finished. When I came back to the counter after 20 minutes to ask if they were still coming, the woman I had ordered them from stood by at the counter and said absolutely nothing while another staff member took the coffee order again and questioned whether I had really paid for them already. The table on one side of us waited 40 minutes for coffee and a muffin which they had to go back in and ask for twice. No apology when it finally appeared. Table on the other side had to ask several times for a menu. Despite a number of staff hanging around behind the counter looking bored, they were very rarely available to catch in the outside seating area, none of our finished plates were cleared in the half hour after we finished and were waiting for coffees.

Perhaps caught them on a bad day? Or some front of house staff training would go a long way to doing justice to the kitchen's...

We’ve dropped in here for both lunch and breakfast on two consecutive days. It’s been a mostly positive experience, however it’s a shame because it has the potential to have been great.

The food has been good, not outstanding but I’d eat here again, it’s a solid option for the area. The coffee has been really good on both occasions.

The place itself is really well fitted out, looks like a brand new venue and the design has been done well.

The service is where it falls down, although not all of the service. The place is clearly being propped up by two or three key members of staff, who are doing the lions share of the responsibilities. The head chef looks to be working pretty hard, as does the barista and one of the wait staff (young tanned girl). The rest of the staff look pretty lost. It’s only small things, that could instantly change the vibe of the place if they were rectified.

You’ve got an open kitchen, which could be a positive feature provided the happenings were interesting to watch, and were of a professional calibre. Instead, what we can see is one kid with his earphones in, another confused looking fella with a bright blue sports top on, and a young girl huffing and shrugging her shoulders like everything’s a chore. It takes the positive shine away from the rest of the business which is otherwise polished and professional looking.

Sack the underperforming staff, pay good wages to some experienced guns and you’ve got a great venue which would likely be full on a Sunday morning, rather than mostly empty as it...

Such a unique place. The design of the setting is gorgeous and sophisticated in blacks, greys and browns. The food was delicious! The menu is more of a breakfast menu but all the food is so unique. The cafe has taken their own turn on some popular breakfasts and turned them into their own delicious unexpected creations. I had the buttermilk chicken which comes on top of a waffle! I’ve never had it before but it was delicious! I paired it with a chai tea with emerald creek ice cream and it was spectacular! Definitely made from real chai which was a very nice surprise. The customer service was amazing. The staff is all very kind and helpful and the food didn’t take too long to prepare. Will definitely be going back again to try out more menu items. The owner has created a modern cafe with such a unique menu which brings the customer’s excitement and a hard choice to make when ordering. My next choice will be the bacon...
