For a small community this is a busy cafe, lots of great local products, honey, fresh flowers etc. You order from the counter, drinks are bottled self serve in a fridge, salads come in plastic containers from the cabinet not made to order so some of ate off ceramic plates and the rest of us ate out of plastic throw away containers. Coffee is also served in takeaway cups to the table. Tacky and wasteful with no finesse. There's a self serve water fountain and yet again disposable plastic cups. Cutlery is self serve which they don't tell you when you order so when my meal arrived I was waved to where the cutlery was with no cutlery available and literally had to wait for it to be washed. Are you kidding me? Another 10 min wait for cutlery so I had to ask for it, it was then presented in a disposable paper wrapping. More waste. Teapots and plants, a bit boho but not cohesive. Fantastic area at the back for children, a big positive for parents. Let's talk about the food. Moderate prices. Pumpkin Bruscetta. Nicely plated unfortunately burnt pumpkin amidst great pumpkin, burnt bacon, bruscetta very hard to cut, chewy, like day old stale bread rehashed and toasted. Egg over cooked too hard, not lovely soft poached BUT lovely flavour combo just badly executed. Service average. There's not much competition in this small...

Lovett at Kalbar is always high on our list of places to pop into either when visiting the Scenic Rim or on our way to Warwick or Stanthorpe. When I’m on my own the staff are always helpful with carrying food and drinks to the table as they know I can carry only one item at a time with crutches. They also ask first rather than assuming - which is really respectful and appreciated.

Today my partner and I popped in together to break up our front and had the loveliest BLT and BLAT, some hot chips, cold drinks and then selected a couple of takeaway slices to bring home.

The BLT and BLAT had delicious crispy bacon and beautiful fresh vegetables and the avocado was beautiful.

We know that the cherry ripe brownie and caramel slice will be delicious when we have those too.

The team remembered us from our coffee stop on Thursday - also really lovely.

Thanks for all you do to provide great food and service and a welcoming and calm environment to...

Unfortunately the owner was so rude to us we ended up asking to just leave. I ordered a brisket roll and she came out asking who has the brisket burger. Confused I politely said I think that's for another table I got a roll, and she became the most hostile person making me and my partner feel incredibly dumb. Still very politely I explained I was just a little confused and pointed on the menu to the roll I ordered, as it was called a roll not a burger. I said I was happy to take it regardless as it's not a big deal but what was a big deal was her whole attitude towards the situation which was dragged out. I tried to diffuse the situation because it's no big deal but her reaction throughout was completely uncalled for. Left because of the rudeness unfortunately. Her put downs and comments including "I'm the owner I think I know what I'm doing" show me the kind of...

What an amazing place with wonderful food. We went on a Sunday drive and decided to make Kalbar our destination. I would have to say that Lovett’s at Kalbar is a must do cafe, it’s home cooked selection is great, the teapot collection is amazing and the customer service is excellent. We went for a Pie, custard tart and coffee, not only did we find the food tasty (Custard tart was one of the best I have had) but it was also great value. If your are travelling the Cunningham highway and want to celebrate coming over Cunningham’s gap or have a break before you go over it, then Lovett at Kalbar is a great place to go, it’s only 4klm off the highway and certainly has a much better selection of food, than what’s on offer on the highway at Aratula.

This is a great cafe in Kalbar. Be warned that if it's busy, as it was today when we visited, there might be a wait for your food. Our drinks were made to perfection and there's a lovely vibe to the place with super friendly staff and so much greenery in the form of REAL plants! Not the usual plastic ones that gather dust... the food was cooked fresh and satisfied the brunch hunger. I had the BLAT. You can eat whatever is on the menu, for breaky or lunch. There's plenty to choose from the display cabinetl. They make all the biccies as well. Can highly recommend the choc chip ones! Nice Sunday drive to get to this place, check it out next time you're in the Scenic Rim.
