Arrived for lunch from Brisbane at 1.00pm, the staff took out order, we paid immediately as was required and ordered some drinks. 35 mins later, I inquired about our order and I was told it is on its way, I ordered some more drinks (a soft drink was given on the house). Over an hour since we had first ordered had passed and still no sign of the lunch for the 3 of us. I approached the Bar asking if we could have our money back as we had to get back to Brisbane and we were told the lunch was actually on the plate and coming to us. When i inquired about a refund (as no lunch had been forthcoming for over an hour and we were not told about any delays at the time of ordering) I was told quite bluntly NO I would not get one and no apology or even a discount was offered. We went back to our table and waited for the meals that apparently were 'on the plate'. A member of staff brought someone else's meals out to us (they ordered after to us) thus the wrong meals adding insult to injury. Finally after arriving and paying for lunch at 1.00pm we were eating our meal at 2.10pm. The food was good (hence the 1 star) but the service was shocking and the attitude of a particular female staff member let the Hotel down. An organization has the chance to shine in times of crisis but equally if poorly handled - lack of communication, an organization can fail miserably and this is what we experienced at this Hotel. I do not...

First time with family functions on Saturday lunch time . Unfortunately I paid $32 for garlic chicken and prawns ,mash salad . They said run out of mash its hard to belive that part as the food markert was just around the corner . They di t even offer grilled potatoes instead .only gave hot chips to cheapest way . The garlic souce was so watery went all over the plate dint even taste pleasant. Got few veggies instead when ordered salad . Chicken was tasteless I have lot better grilled chickens from most other places . Not sure what was going on at this royal hotel kalbar Very dispointed Wouldn't even offer discount as dint get the mash and gave 4 peices of vegetables?? This was 23/8/25 $32 wasent worth it Even my local club in brisbane for $16 i get morrocan chicken, mash and good mixed salad . Could not justify the cost that day Also parently one of kitchen staff walked out on that day Would not go back there again if do I go see how the coffe shop is medal side instead or the other small resturant cross the road Defentmy not the...

Car parking is excellent with verygood ramp access from rear parking lot. This entrance will take you to either the pokie room or into the bistro .The bistro serves well cooked and well presented meals for the entire family ,spacious seating, clean ,surroundings , topped off with excellent service . The pokie room is well appointed and staffed ,it's has comfortable seating and free refreshments for players (Tea, Coffee ,Hot Chocolate and even a large urn filled with a hearty soup for those cold winters days . The main bar is where you will find the locals having a pot and a punt either on the horses sports or keno there is also 2 pool tables a jukebox and plenty of space to enjoy yourself . All said and done what tops the Royal Hotel off and makes it excellent is by far the service , I can not rate them, their hospitality and welcoming service high enough...

I love the pub here in Kalbar. Troy and the staff are so friendly, the vibe is good whether you're there for music, a meal on a busy weekend, on a specials night (like schnitty 2 for 1 on a Thursday) or a beer on a more quiet weekday afternoon. Also, don't be tricked into thinking a country pub like the Royal can't serve up good food - chef does an amazing job with dishes like 'Mediterranean whole baby barra', duck, brisket plate, Italian Lemon Chicken, and the favourites of course; schnitty/parmy, Kalbar burger, Mons Burger, and pub regulars like their (fantastic) Rissoles and occasionally lambs fry & bacon. You can't go wrong here, but book a table to be sure you can be seated where you choose, or otherwise eat out the back or at the bar. Love the Royal.

Went for a road trip and decided to take a detour to the next town. Kalbar it was - first we thought there was nothing there but kept on driving till we saw the pub. Went in and instantly thought it wasn't going to have food. Pleasantly surprised as we walked around the corner and saw tables with "reserved" signs. We just made it before it was packed with locals and tourists alike. Food was delicious and service was fantastic. 1 man band was playing outside and lots were enjoying his music. Well worth the detour

We recently popped in for lunch and so glad we did ! The Royal Hotel is a lovely old building and kept immaculately- the public bar, dining area, gaming area and bathrooms are all spotless and well kept. Our orders were taken quickly and our food was brought out very quickly. The meals were amazing - especially the brisket plate - so much better than several smoke house style places we’ve tried in the past - we will absolutely be making the Royal Hotel Kalbar a regular place to visit when in the area !
