Mr Young Chinese Takeaway — Restaurant in Queensland

We think this is the best Chinese in Townsville. The only place we feel like going to since moving up here from Melbourne. If you come early enough you may even hear the chef sing :-) The chef knows all the tricks required to prepare quality Chinese food, this is not your fast-food shopping centre style, amatour cooking.

p.s. I recommend that people read the menu before ordering and commenting, as some of the negative reviews on here are like from bogans complaining that wine tastes too grapey lol There is "Fried Rice" and there is a "Special Fried Rice", both of these have steam rice in it, it's actually healthier this way. This chef cooks in an authentic way, which means you get proteins in your "Special Fried Rice" like meats and egg, and then you combine that with a vegetable dish. It's the proper way. In cheap Asian diners the goal is often save money on meats and give customers poor quality veg like peas from a frozen bag to fill it in, this place doesn't do that, they are value for money, veggies are always...

My go-to Chinese takeaway in Townsville! If I want good Chinese food, I head over here! The Su family co-run the establishment and the people who run Mr Young have been in the Townsville food scene since they opened up their original Chinese Tea House establishment all those years ago near the old Sizzlers. Their fried tofu and the chicken dishes I've tried are amazing. Decor of the interior is very very basic so I normally just do takeaway but it's a quiet and clean place so you'll definitely be able to enjoy your food dining in too!...

We ordered 5 seperate meals plus rice x 2 & all the meals were inedible, they tasted like they had been cooking the day before. The Sweet & Sour Pork & the Honey Chicken was so overcooked you could not cut it up & you could hardly even chew it. The Crispy Duck was Soggy Duck. There was no vegetables in any of the dishes except the Mongolian Lamb & Beef, that was a very small amount of broccoli. There was hardly any sweet & sour sauce in the Sweet & Sour Pork.
