I'm American, so forgive my American English spellings.
My husband and I went here to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. He had been feeling poorly earlier that day, but felt up to going out to eat, and schnitzel is one of his favorite foods.
We enjoyed about half of our entree before our meals came out, and shortly after, my husband felt nauseous (as he had earlier that day) and couldn't finish his meal. We decided to leave so he could get away from all of the food smells making him feel sick, and we figured we'd just take our food home.
I went to the register to ask the woman there for a few doggy bags, and she informed me that they didn't have those; they didn't have the license for them. I'd never heard of such a thing, so I thought she thought I was asking for takeaway food and I informed her that no, really, my table is right over there. She repeated what she'd said before, and I apologized and went back to my seat.
So, after a brief discussion, my husband and I left our mostly uneaten meal, wasting over $60.
House of Schnitzel is pretty nice and doesn't make you wait a long time for your meal, but I'm puzzled as to 1) why they do not have the license to give their customers doggy bags when requested (surely we were not the first to have an emergency come up in the middle of a meal?), and 2) why they would not at least offer a partial refund to people who cannot salvage their leftovers because of their confusing policy.
As we left, I looked around for some sign somewhere that informed customers that no doggy bags could be given out, thinking perhaps I had just overlooked it, but I saw none.
Disappointing and frustrating, to...
Read moreAfter asking around for the best place for a schnitty, I was told to come here... unfortunately It was an ok experience. Firstly we were greeted by a lovely waitress, who was very welcoming. It was our first time dining here, I went to the register and asked for menus... I was told abruptly and rudely to use my phone. I certainly didn't like fact there was no hard copy of the menu to look at because you needed to use your phone to view menu, order & pay. This felt very impersonal. After putting our meals into the cart, the app was shut off for ordering which caused the app to close. They closed the app because the kitchens exhaust fan was broken and you couldn't order steaks. So after 20 minutes of trying to order, we ended up having to line up at the register to order anyway. We all ordered schnitzels in different varieties, they were ok. Mashed potato could have been creamier, it was a bit watery. Fresh vegetables were nice and crisp. Size of the meals were great too. The blonde waitress was the only one with a constant smile all night, even with the few problems they faced. She is a great personality & asset to their business. I was impressed by how quickly the exhaust fans were fixed too, once they were fixed the smoke cleared away within a...
Read moreCame for lunch for my daughter's birthday. We were advised on arrival that there was a 20 minute to half an hour wait on food which was fine. We sat and had a drink ( Best lemon lime and bitters I've had bar staff were great) while sitting we watched a staff member walk out of the kitchen with a smoke (unlit) hanging out of her mouth and walked through the restaurant. After an hour I went to the counter to check on our order that's where I seen a staff member put her unwashed bare hand into a metal bowl and start eating hot chips then tongs go in to serve guests 🤢 Our meals came out an hour and 10 minutes after ordering. The Caesar Salad came with a rock solid egg and $8 got me 4 pieces of small calamari that would have come from a frozen box. The creamy garlic sauce taste like nothing but hot cream and we refused to each the chips after what was seen. We spoke to the manager she was lovely and gave me $30 for the caeser out of the $108 I spent not including the $50 on drinks. We left after eating not even half of our meals combined. Super disappointed giant...
