Had dinner at Nu-Nu on Friday night. We were extremely impressed! The staff are all so welcoming and professional and kind. The inside is clean and modern, and it is very comfortable. I had a watermelon cocktail which was delicious! My partner had a gin and tonic which he loved. We ordered a few smaller dishes to share. The only vegetarian options are the smaller dishes. They didn't have any vegetarian meals from what we could see. However, the dishes were so delicious! Firstly, there was was complementary appetiser. I didn't quite hear what they said it was but it was thin and crispy like a long vegetable chip, with a tangy dust on it. Second we had a sourdough bread with lemon and oil which was incredible. Next we had a few slices of spiced eggplant. I need to say, I normally hate eggplant, like I despise it, but oh my gosh. This eggplant was DEVINE. It was spiced beautifully and it was so soft and tender but not in the typical wet 'eggplant' way. Then we had bowl of potato cubes (can't remember the names of these sorry), which were beautiful and crispy and buttery. Then we had watermelon with goats cheese, molasses toast (which was wafery and tasted just like toast it was amazing), it was beautiful, everything paired so well. I also had a salmon thing with some sort of sprouts, and it had salmon eggs too. It was tangy, nutty and delicious. This is definitely fine dining but we still spent only around $100 for 2 of us and we left extremely satisfied and full! We are coming back here for breakfast soon which I am keen for! Edit: we came here for breakfast later and the food was also amazing! Really happy with it.

Nu Nu Restaurant in Palm Cove delivers one of the finest dining experiences in the region. From the moment you arrive, the setting makes an impression , tropical palms swaying by the beachfront, stylish décor with greenery woven throughout, and a layout that feels both relaxed and elegant. The interior design is creative, with vibrant touches like patterned tables, hanging plants, and displays of house-made jams, condiments, and local produce. It immediately feels like a place that celebrates the Far North Queensland lifestyle. The food is outstanding, beautifully presented and full of flavour. At breakfast, dishes like the avocado toast, poached eggs, and house-baked breads were generous, fresh, and refined without losing their simplicity. Dinner was a true highlight, from the opening snacks to the carefully balanced mains. Every plate showed attention to detail in both plating and taste. Cocktails were imaginative, colourful, and matched perfectly with the food, adding to the sense of occasion. Service at Nu Nu is polished yet warm. The team are attentive throughout the dining experience, refilling glasses, explaining dishes, and checking in without being intrusive. It feels professional and genuinely welcoming at the same time. Yes, Nu Nu is on the pricier side, but it is absolutely worth it for the quality, consistency, and beachfront atmosphere. Without question, it is the best dining experience in Palm Cove and a must-visit for anyone wanting something memorable.

Visited this restaurant yesterday. I was looking forward to trying this place as the reviews were excellent. However, I was thoroughly disappointed. We ordered two of the entree spanner crab brioche buns. They were extremely salty and had way too much citrus, therefore it was too acidic. Appears the chefs didn't taste it before serving it as I don't understand how you could serve that to paying customers. The taste of the crab was completely lost. It was impossible to eat but we finished it due to it costing $16 for one slider. Absolutely abhorrent. The only decent entrees were the oysters (which require no cooking) and the scallop. For mains, we ordered the sirloin and the pork schnitty. If I could rate 0/5 I would. The server did not ask how I would like the sirloin done (medium rare of course) so I naturally assumed it would come out medium rare. Instead the sirloin came out medium to well-done. Thus, it was tough and difficult to chew. What a waste of a good cut of meat. The mushrooms were also over salted and in my opinion, did not pair well with the sirloin. The pork schnitty was bland at best and not tender or juicy. The accompanying "apple" sauce was horrific. It tasted like baby pureed apples. Did not pair well at all with the schnitzel. Considering the very high prices (our bill came to $268) this place is overpriced and overrated. Would not recommend. Coming from Melbourne, we would not get this quality for the prices charged.

Nu Nu restaurant at Palm Cove is absolutely gorgeous. Where do I start? The food was A1, the location sensational, the wait staff were very welcoming and attentive. Our water glasses were continually topped up. They brought us complimentary salty lime cassava chips to start. Loved their menu, which changes regularly with the seasons. When I go to a restaurant I like ordering food that I wouldn’t normally cook at home. Nu Nu’s menu fulfilled this wish with very creative and adventurous dishes. Loved it. The whole atmosphere of being able to dine outside with a view of the beach/ocean through palm trees was truly a beautiful dining experience. We are so glad we chose Nu Nu to celebrate the 21st birthday of one of our daughters. It really has a special vibe. We booked online which was so easy and they have an option to write comments about your food preferences and whether you have any allergies. Two of our family of five have food intolerances: gluten free/pulses and msg. When they brought us the menus they gave separate copies of the menu to the two people with food intolerances, with the particular dishes highlighted they could order. Amazing! The chefs certainly know their ingredients. It definitely helps to let them know in advance if you have any food intolerances/allergies so that they have time to accommodate them. We are Cairns locals so will definitely be back.

TL;DR I had higher expectations Firstly what I really liked: - the sticky bushy creek beef was incredibly yummy! Flavours and crunchiness blended together perfectly - raw yellowfin tuna was good, it was a good combination with the slice of toasted bread - the kimchi butter poached reef fish was surprisingly and nicely tasty and filling! I wasn't expecting it from a degustation menu. I really enjoyed it. - the meat of the BBQ beef striploin was great quality but there was too much oil for me. Things that I didn't like: - the scallop was supremely cooked but unfortunately its flavour was covered by the masala - the iceberg lettuce and the fried zucchini were really out of context in my opinion: I didn't understand them at all - the dessert was just terrible unfortunately, the coconut was completely frozen to ice cube level, it was painful to eat. It was too cold in general so not flavourful at all. In general it was a nice experience but I had higher expectations: in some of the dishes the feeling was that the "flavours" weren't balanced and I was expecting more emphasis on the Australian native ingredients used in each dish (explain them during dish presentation, highlight them in the menu, ...). In my opinion the level of oil in some dishes was too high. A nice note is that I found the degustation menu (109$) really filling.

My husband and I have dreamt of having our wedding receptionist at Nunu's for the longest time. When we book it for our reception in 2018 we were over the moon!! The restaurant is so beautiful inside and out. Every time we go up to Cairns we always pock our head in to just see how beautiful it is. Not only is it so beautiful, there food and coffee is AMMMMAZINNNG! The service is incredible and there is honestly nothing to say bad about this restaurant! When we were organising our reception remotely the staff made it as easy as possible and our beautiful wedding coordinator Ashley took all the stress out of the picture. Especially when we had to postpone earlier in the year due to Covid. When talking to Ashley on the phone confirming everything -it felt as we were talking to a friend and on the day she made the set up as seamless as possible. Ashley and the other suppliers made our dream come true and as soon as we walked into the reception we were speechless and mind blown that it looked as incredible as it did! It really is amazing when people really understand exactly what you want and really listen to your vision. We don't fault one thing and it was worth every cent. We would do it a million times all over again! We adore you guys and thank you for bringing our wedding day come to life xx

We visited NuNu for afternoon coffee and cake and it was simply amazing. The location, views, atmosphere/decor, service and sweets were all absolutely perfect! Being located on the South end of The Esplanade ensures that the immaculate views are uninterrupted by passing traffic and excessive walkers by. This is the only restaurant in Palm Cove that has such a location. The maître d’ and fellow wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We appreciated having the dessert items tweaked slightly to be made vegan friendly as they were perfect and simply cannot be faulted! NuNu offers a fine dining experience with amazing attention to detail when partnering textures and flavours. I have never had a vegan dessert as experimental and tasty as this one since Smith & Daughters in Melbourne. We would have given NuNu a 5 star ‘excellent’ rating had their extensive lunch and dinner menu included a larger variety of vegetarian and vegan friendly options. There were approximately 4 vegetarian dishes on the large menu (mainly meats and seafood) and were informed 1-2 of these could be made vegan. Even just 1 vegan option would be fantastic for this restaurant to include. Overall, quite exceptional however I look forward to returning to perhaps a more inclusive menu for us vegans!

We were really looking forward to dining here in Palm Cove, but the service and attitude from management really let it down.

We arrived about 10 minutes early for our booking and politely asked if we could sit down a little early or even just have a drink while we waited. We made it clear that if they couldn’t accommodate that, it was totally fine, we’d happily go for a walk and come back. Instead of simply saying “sorry, not ready yet,” the manager acted like we were asking them to move heaven and earth. She looked confused, left us standing there for several minutes, then told us to sit out the front on a bench and said they could serve us drinks there.

We again said it was fine if they weren’t ready, but they insisted it was okay and took our drink order, which never arrived. By the time our actual booking time had passed, we still hadn’t been seated. When we finally were, they asked again if we wanted drinks, apparently forgetting the earlier order entirely. There were already other diners seated inside, so it wasn’t like we were asking for anything unreasonable.

The rest of the night didn’t improve much. The service was slow, inattentive, and just not very thoughtful. At one point we asked whether we should order one or two serves of an entrée to share, and were told one would be fine, but when it arrived it was clearly not meant for two people. It really felt like no one was thinking about the guest experience.

To be fair, the food itself was actually quite good, but the customer service completely ruined what could have been a great evening. For what’s meant to be a great restaurant, the whole experience just felt awkward, unwelcoming, and poorly managed. A simple “we’re not ready yet, please come back in 10 minutes” would have been perfectly fine, but instead it started the night on the wrong foot and never...
