In the small town of Roberson, this cafe offers a bit more trendy experience, with prosciutto legs and wine bottles in display, and open kitchen. However I didn’t think the quality of food followed…. Although my almond chai tea was superb, we ordered ordinary cheeseburger and cod and hash open toast. The menu was interesting, most food had no protein sauce, and not many options for carnivore… the pastry section was small as well but looked interesting. The cheeseburger was way salty and the sauce was just one from McDonald.. so it tasted like Bigmac. The chips looked freshly cooked, but soggy for some reason. The cod and hash was not better, cod was super dry like it was cooked a long time ago and microwaved for 30 sec, and hash the same. They were cut small cubes and I assume there were like 25g of cod cubes in total… it had thinly sliced zucchini pieces as well but cold, in the overall warm food.. and the sauce was overpowered by pepper. Each of the ingredients were not balanced overall, not to mention it wasn’t cheap eat, did not feel I paid what I paid. Good thing was bread, the sourdough bread was good (but I’m not a big fan of sesame on bread.. ) the milkbuns for cheeseburger was ok. Service was ok with helpful staff, and the atmosphere feels cosy and nice. Good experience, but next time I’ll just eat pastry or bread,...

I am email to let you know I am going to write a negative review about Moonacres. Unfortunately it’s not going to be a favourable one.
With a local reputation and promoter of fresh produce I would expect this would reflect in fresh cooking.
On Saturday just gone, we chose Moonacres over the other eateries in Robertson. The menu said Veal Schnitzel sandwich. Our Schnitzel was definitely pre-cooked. It was very dark brown on arrival, in the bun with a bit of chutney, mustard a fried egg. On cutting into the schnitzel we could see it had been re-fried or re-heated. On tasting it was hard and tasteless. Far from freshly made. Nothing else accompanied the plate. This meal cost was $24.00. It wasn’t a main meal I hate to tell you. As a local I was utterly disappointed to experience poor quality food in the Southern Highlands. Our friend, another local ordered the Cod on toast and he had four small pieces in the meal. Another high charge for a very average meal. Your food presentation has slipped, your service has slipped, you’re over charging meals you...
Read moreUpdate: dropped in on the weekend for lunch. I had the cheeseburger and fries, I don’t know what magic they use on the meat and condiments but it was one of the best cheeseburgers I’ve had. And the fries are house made and fresh, so good. Mum had the veg soup which was also a winner. 10/10 for consistency on food. And the bread loads are also good. Try the flaxseed, crusty on the outside and super soft on the inside, great for soups or homemade cheese toastie 👍
This place is adorable. We unfortunately arrived too late for the lunch session but were served takeaway tea and coffee. Both were excellent. Staff is friendly, menu looked good. We’ll be back for lunch
EDIT - back for a lunch visit as we were keen to try. Did not disappoint! It’s super busy but the service is quick and friendly. We had the cauliflower and eggplant soup which is absolutely yum! Comes with a big slab of brown loaf and butter. The cheeseburger is also a good option. Must try the Robertson potato chips as well, they’re really good. We dined at the outside tables as it was a perfect chilly late autumn...
