Right, let’s get down to it. We walk into The Sporting Globe and straight away, I’m impressed by the vibe. It's got that laid-back, welcoming feel you want from a sports bar, but still clean, sharp, and professional. A great place to catch up with mates, but also somewhere you could take the family without feeling like you’ve stepped into a rowdy pub. I’ve been to enough places where the ambiance is all over the place – not here. They’ve nailed the atmosphere.
We started off with the sliced cob loaf. Now, a cob loaf might sound simple, but don’t underestimate it. There’s a fine line between perfect and over-baked. But this? Spot on. The crust was crisp without being rock-hard, and the inside? Soft, warm, and bloody delicious. Plus, they served it with side plates and – wait for it – a hand wipe! Not just any hand wipe either; it wasn’t one of those cheap things that feel like tissue paper. It was thoughtful and added that extra touch of class. How often do you get something as simple as bread and feel like they’ve actually put some effort into it? This wasn’t just an afterthought, it was clearly done right.
Next, the Pineberry zero alcohol cocktails. Now, I’ve had plenty of mocktails that taste like someone just threw together some fruit juice and called it a day. But these? Stunning. First, they looked fantastic – an absolute showstopper on the table, almost too pretty to drink. And when I did take that first sip? Refreshing, vibrant, perfectly balanced. Whoever’s behind the bar knows what they’re doing, I’ll tell you that. It had that zing of freshness that wakes up your palate but didn’t feel heavy or sugary. Zero alcohol but still delivering on every level. A round of applause to the bar staff for that one.
For the mains,we had the Touchdown chicken wrap and the Champion bacon cheeseburger. The names alone have you drooling, right? They arrived quickly, which is always a plus, but the speed didn’t sacrifice quality. The presentation? Clean, sharp, and professional.None of that sloppy nonsense you get at places that rush out orders. The chicken wrap was beautiful. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned perfectly. No greasy mess, no dry bites. And the ratio of chicken to veg and sauce? Nailed it. Not drowning in sauce, not overwhelmed with dry lettuce – just a great balance.
Now, the bacon cheeseburger. This is where so many places go wrong – either they overdo it with too many toppings, or you get a sad, flat burger that’s been sitting in the kitchen too long. But here? The burger was stacked just right. Thick, juicy patty, crispy bacon, gooey cheese – all held together in a bun that didn’t disintegrate the second you took a bite. It was hearty, it was flavorful, and it did exactly what a burger should do: satisfy. A proper, honest burger.
By this point,we’re feeling pretty full, but you know me,I can’t resist dessert. So we went for the housemade triple chocolate chip cookie bar.Holy sht*,I’m glad we did. This thing was a masterpiece. It had that perfect blend of cake and cookie – crispy edges, soft, gooey center – but what really set it apart was the flavor. Rich chocolate, coconut that didn’t overwhelm, bursts of salted caramel that cut through the sweetness, and that gorgeous drizzle of chocolate fudge. Pair that with vanilla ice cream, and you’ve got a dessert that makes you forget how full you are. It was indulgent but not over the top. Just the right amount of sweetness, and the textures? Heavenly. Whoever came up with this needs a bloody medal.
Now,the best part of the evening wasn’t just the food, it was the service. The waitstaff were absolutely top-notch.Attentive,but not in your face, friendly without being overbearing. They were always there when you needed them, but never hovering or rushing us.That’s a hard balance to strike, and they got it just right. You could tell they cared about the customer experience from start to finish.Honestly, it’s service like this that makes the difference between a good night out and a great one.
Well done,Sporting...
Read moreHi all, The Sporting Globe Bar & Grill - ROCKINGHAM...mmm...well I think it will be a long time before I go back there again. Recently coming down to Perth to visit family and the daughter, we thought it would be a great idea to meet the daughter’s new boyfriend and take him somewhere neutral for a quite lunch. We didn’t make a reservation, but when we arrived, on a Saturday, 1.30pm, they really weren't that busy, 50-60% capacity, we didn't end having our lunch until ~2.45pm, so waiting for a few entrees and mains for 5 for that long is not tempting us to return there soon. Now the food…the pricing for 3 entrees, 5 mains and 5 soft drinks @ $180+ so the value for money is certainly not there. I thought with the pricing configuration, the make-up will be in the quality of the food…it wasn’t…very disappointing; there signature chicken wings were dry and they were tiny small, everything else was just over cooked and bland, tasteless…it was just disappointing! It really wasn’t the first impression I wanted to make on my daughters new boyfriend To sum it up all, I would be considering other places to eat because I feel that there are better eats in Rockingham WA, but if you want to go down there for a drink, great place to do so, the sports on every channel to view is awesome Hope the information...
Read moreThe food used to be good there, unfortunately they have just lost it now. I went there for a steak last night, and was extremely disappointed. I probably won’t go back. Firstly: Service is a problem. You walk in, and immediately in front of you is the desk for bookings. Problem is, there is nobody manning the desk. Every time I have been there, I have had to chase them up. Secondly, your portions are disproportionate for the price charged. A salad is meant to accompany the main and secondary items, not take up more than 1/3 of the plate. Last night , I had what was probably the worst steak I have ever had. It wasn’t cut well, and the fat in it was ridiculous. I would have been embarrassed to serve that to a customer, as it is a poor representation of the level of service that the company provided. I will be going somewhere else for food now. Drinks are fine, as it’s nearly impossible to mess up a coca-cola. When I spoke to the manager, I had 3 different excuses in the first opening address. “The chef was new” “The supplier is different”. Do yourself a favour, get your story correct before giving it to the customer as a reason for an overall...
