The Coffee Club Café — Restaurant in Rockingham

We went to the Coffee Club this morning to meet my grandma and grandad, as it’s their favourite local cafe and it was my grandma’s 80th birthday during the week.

My grandma’s omelette was brought out completely burnt on the bottom side. My sister took it back and was told by a server that it was not burnt. When she insisted the black egg was evidence that it was burnt, she was told they were too busy and had too many other dockets to remake it. The chef argued with my sister for 2-3 minutes (wasting precious time if you ask me) before another staff member convinced her she needed to remake it. The next omelette that was served was cooked well and not burnt.

I got smashed avo in toast. I wondered why it was served with lemon and once I tasted the avocado it was clear - the avocado had a green/brown colour but tasted like it had gone bad already. The lemon was also brown along the edged, as if it was cut a week earlier. The toast was stale and brittle, not what was expecting given it was majority of the meal.

The coffee was good and the gentlemen who served our table was lovely.

Not that impressed this morning. Customer before me served, I was then told "I won't be a minute" by young lady taking orders. I waited, the sole customer at the counter, whilst she proceeded to make some sort of smoothie drjnk. Finally turned to me, apologised and within 1 minute, I gave my order and paid. As the only customer at the counter at that time, I think it would've been better customer service to serve me then start to make the drink. The place was reasonably busy, 1 member of staff doing drinks, and another young lady taking drinks etc; to tables. Perhaps they were short staff, but I actually felt slightly uncomfortable just standing at the counter to all intent and purpose, ignored by staff. If I had been by myself, would have walked away and gone elsewhere. Sounds a petty thing, but I really believe that if you make the customer feel welcome, it counts for a lot. What scrambled egg and toast, which was fine, served with cherry tomatoes - previously the dish was served with blistered tomatoes or grilled, these were just cold tomatoes ...

After waiting around nine minutes, our drinks came. We both had iced coffee frappes. I’m not a coffee person, However, apparently this is good coffee coming from the person i was with. The presentation of the frappes weren’t the best, personally, I’ve seen better maccas frappes. I got the nachos and the person i was with got the chicken burger. The nachos were actually good, a solid 4 stars. I didn’t need to get any add on’s to make it taste good. The chicken burger wasn’t dry and tasted great and came with perfectly seasoned chips on the side. The wait time wasn’t that bad. We had to use the QR code to order, it was easy and efficient.
