Romsey Bakery — Restaurant in Romsey

Unfortunately i have to rate 1 star for a few reasons. I don't do it lightly but I have been here multiple times thinking it might just be an 'off' day but the issues I'll mention have happened each time. The biggest reason for 1 star is poor food hygiene. I have purchased rolls and the staff ALWAYS use their bare hands, this has happened every time i have been in. On a couple occasions I watched as the staff member served a customer at the till, handled money, and then grabbed some rolls with their hands for the next customer, all without gloves or cleaning their hands. Today whilst i was waiting for a coffee, a staff member coughed into their hands, did not wash them, a minute later a customer came in asking for some rolls and the same staff member picked them up, again with bare hands. Extremely poor food hygiene and very disappointing to see this still happening especially since covid. Aside from this, the few times I've been in the staff were not super friendly, and the coffee also was not very great either. Is a shame as I would like to support small businesses but when these things happen more than once sometimes it...

Never been to this bakery before. Once I bit into the steak and cheese pie I turned ravenous! Whoa...these pies are crazy yum. I'm a kiwi...so we know taste when it comes to pies and these were definite thumbs up 👍👍👍 The sausage rolls were large...and yes again....delicious home made sausage filling and buttery flaky pastry. When I was In the shop I could not take my gaze off the vanilla slices in the glass cabinet. Saying the custard was large was an understatement. I thought I'd wait till I got home to try those with a cuppa. All my kids came out like rogue ants 🐜 and they were gone in a snap! Making the 40 min trip to Romsey is worth it just to satisfy my pie craving. Thank you for the wonderful food you make Romsey Hot Bread Kitchen....I will be spreading...

Bread and most of the cakes are pretty good but the pies have gone downhill lately. I had a steak, cheese and tomato pie and it was dry and the pastry was hard enough for me to bang it on the table and give a friend a fright. It was well before 1pm so it shouldn't have been sitting in the warmer for that long unless they don't rotate their stock properly. Gave them 3 stars only because the other pie I bought for my friend was...
