Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club — Restaurant in Shoalhaven Heads

We came to the cafe earlier today for breakfast with some friends. Three of our five meals came out in a reasonable time, but the last two took a full hour to come out (by the time we got them, it'd been almost 25 minutes since the others recieved their meals and they had already finished eating). We went to the counter to check on our order, and was told quite coldly by the waitress that they would be out in a few minutes.

When we did eventually get our food, one of the orders was wrong and had to be remade, adding another 10 minutes. This whole time we didn't get a single apology or acknowledgement of the wait, and I even heard the chef swearing at having to remake the order.

It was a really disappointing experience, and we probably wouldn't have been as bothered by it had the staff been a bit friendlier/apologetic. The food was...

Nice sand-based course next to the Ocean (can't see it although it is only 50m-100m away). Greens may have been recovering from coring? (Fri, April 11, 2025). And a few bare patches on some of them. They were 6.5 out of 10.

To the owners/manager, the bunker 15m short right of the 13th green (short par 4) should be marked GUR immediately. It's dangerous. Very large covered tree roots in the bunker! Extremely dangerous as this could cause major wrist damage to the unsuspecting golfer. I made one big thick root visible so golfers can see it. Other small roots near by.

The greenkeeper/s responsible for this bunker should be asked why they have not raised the alarm. If the bunker is raked by them, it is hard to believe that they are not aware...

Well maintained course, holes are a bit repetitive, I wouldn’t say it was a particularly challenging course. Locals who play are very nice, couldn’t say the same about the staff. Always seem a little grumpy and cold, although I’ve only been a couple of times. Had an awful experience with one of the grounds staff on the second occasion. Admittedly i was in the wrong, but I did apologise, and in return I was spoken to like I was a child. Completely the wrong way to handle it in my opinion. I’d recommend quite a few other golf courses before this one in the Illawarra...
