Disappointed with the attitude of what I can only think was the owner. I prefer my coffee out of a takeaway cup, just my preference, but no, I can only have a takaway cup if I take the coffee away! But its the way you say it too!! If the environment was that important, you wouldn't sell takeaway cups at all, so make your minds up!! So we obviously didn't stay (wasn't welcoming - might explain why there was zero people in there). For somewhere that would seem to be "in tune" with modern day needs, they didn't serve Zymil and no cream for the iced chocolate, which my daughter didn't drink as "not very nice". The older ladies (owner?) listening skills were close to zero too, writing iced coffee on a cup when we asked for iced chocolate & then "warm" on the coffee when I asked for 'not too hot please' & it was warm! Probably the worse De groot coffee I've had tbh. Shame really as drive 1hr to get there. They are just lucky they have some good retailers selling a service/experience for them, as a franchise model in its current state wouldn't scale with such a poor customer experience. 2 stars as the coffee itself is good, but made by some if their customers in the city, where they offer more choice, personable skills & experience. I won't be returning. And 1.7% of whatever it was to use card? Seriously, I'd rather pay 10% extra & not be told. Had there been a coffee house next door, I'd have probably walked away. You are alienating people for their choices. I somehow feel this review will either fall on deaf ears or cause a negative reply, rather than it be used to improve their business. Shame really, as the bean is up there...

We have had the worst experience today with the business. We are regulars and love the coffee but after coming to get coffee and being told we need to sit out around the corner for my daughters to consume their lunch was absolutely appalling. The business does not sell lunch foods and my daughters hadn’t had their lunch, we were all ordering drinks and were going to order sweets but were left feeling like diseased citizens shafted out to consume our drinks with the nearby bins from next doors business.

When asked to speak to the owner about this, she chose not to come out and speak with us. When we were leaving, we asked again to speak with the owner and the owner made us wait before coming to talk. During our conversation, the owner of this business was absolutely rude and awful to us.. stating that it was just ‘their policy’ with no reasoning behind it. We would not had stayed had there been signs stating this. She told us that ‘well we don’t need your business’ and ‘we’re done here’. Absolutely disgusting!!

The staff on the other hand were absolutely beautiful as always and said they were very sorry we had to be out of sight, we couldn’t fault them at all. But unfortunately due to the passive aggressive nature of the owner and the way she handled this we will not...

This is a coffee roasting business and that is how it should be seen. I have read comments about not having much food options but this is not a Cafe nor do they advertise to be one. Your probably wondering why 4 stars and this is where I will begin. I liked the rustic feel of the shed, very minimal and a big fan to move the air around. It was a hot day and the fan and aircon did a great job. I ordered a cappuccino and this is where one mark, in my opinion, let them down. Im a big fan of coffee and when I asked to add 1 sugar, they advised I would have to do it myself. Am I lazy? No, the sugar melts a lot quicker when placed into the hot espresso and blends beautifully when the milk is poured in. But that aside, the cappuccino was very nice but lacked the creamy textured milk a cappuccino should have. Now your probably thinking this is a bit harsh but there is one more thing I would like to add. I brought 2 x 250g coffee beans at the price of a 500g pack. I was happy buying factory direct but when I went out the next day and I noticed another company selling de Groot coffee for $2 cheaper. I was a little let down. All in all, I highly recommend this business and would definitely go there again. Maybe next time with small...

Found this place by searching on Bean Hunter and was actually impressed with the coffee. It had a smooth finish, rich froth and needed little to no sweetening for my taste. The quality was just as consistent when a different barista made a cup the next day also. The converted warehouse / shed is a little rustic and one could argue, is unfinished. There's potentially a large space inside the tin walls but they've chosen to limit it to only 4 tables. The lack of wall decorations fails to create atmosphere and with various artists in adjoining warehouses, there's really no excuse. As with other reviews, the lack of cake / nibble options again really fails to cater for the needs of potential patrons. I commented to a staff member that there's no sign at the entrance to assist in first time visitors successfully navigating to this business. I was told that the owner likes to keep it a 'bit of a secret'. This seems counter-intuitive to a successful business model. Basically, this model has potential with a more entrepreneurial influence.

Best coffee on the Fleurieu Peninsula
. a big statement I know but it’s absolutely true. A little away from the main part of Port Elliot maybe a 1 min drive but it sure is worth it for the coffee & homemade biscuits & cakes including vegan options. Don’t miss the choc chip cookies. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe inside or outside whatever you prefer. It’s busy but they clearly schedule enough staff to provide great service. One not to miss. đŸ‘đŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒ Dog friendly too.
