We had driven through these businesses before off Waterport Rd, but never went in. This weekend, we had to Google Pizza near us and of course this winner came up. Don’t be put off by the semi dark drive into what looks like an industrial estate. The smell of the wood fired oven, the outdoor area that looks like it would be pumping in summer, the quirky bicycle stools and vintage atmosphere are all great. However, the pizza is just amazing, as are the hosts and service. The base was just how we like it, not too thin and not thick and the flavours were amazing. I had eaten at a so called Award winning pizzeria in Surrey Hills, Sydney, earlier the same week and although their foccacia base was wonderful, the ingredients were a bit too “culinary” for me. We ordered take away at Port Elliot, but ordered drinks while waiting. The Pizza was out before we finished our drinks so ate most of the pizza there. Impressive, because as we arrived a takeaway order for 10 pizzas was going out. We will be back. I think we paid about $30 per 12 inch pizza, but worth every dollar. More than we could eat, but the left overs were still great two days later. We had the sausage and pepper which is spicy and the prosciutto which was amazing. Local Beers and wines were promoted Oh, and I didn't add, the owners didn't ask us to give a...
Read moreWas told this was a great spot by a local but was incredibly confused when told that when they are ‘booked out’ they can’t do takeaway. A fine and reasonable point for a bustling pizza place packed with hungry patrons who have ordered and are waiting for their meals. However, rather than arriving at the peak of dinner, we arrived at 5:30pm. There were many many empty tables, presumably of patrons to arrive in the coming few hours. Did these people pre order pizzas and they had to be made before they arrived? Were they all about to walk in behind us in a big hungry shambling hoard? Were they invisible hungry ghosts, inhabiting every rustic table? All questions unanswered. This conundrum would have been ok, if not for the dismissive cashier who seemed annoyed that we even existed in her space. Sorry for ruining your...
Read moreZero stars. Pizza maker walked around touching all sorts of things inside and outside the shop, including removing dirty glasses from tables and then started making pizzas twice without washing hands. Then picked up a couple of napkins from a departing table and didn’t actually clean the table, and then proceeded to place those napkins with the clean ones. Also, there was some sort of food powder or similar under the pizza base that was hard enough to scratch our tongues. Will never...
