Fire and Smoke Ki — Restaurant in South Australia

After reading reviews I was cautious to try it but the good reviews did seem to outweigh the bad. My experience was not a great one.

Things they did well: the lady on the front counter remained calm and mostly in control of the proceedings given the amount of people trying to order, the delay in service, the technology issues and the long weekend. There was a younger girl maybe 9 or 10 who (i assume is a family member) who was running orders and cutlery out to the waiting customers. If I could have given her a tip I would have.

Things that did not go so well: while pizzas were coming out in a somewhat steady stream the food service and times for other menu options was not great. We ordered at about 6.45 and waited until 7.35ish to receive our meals. We had ordered a gnocchi bolognaise and a medium rare steak.

The gnocchi was chewy but was hot when it came out. The steak wasn't great. It was cooked too long on one side and not enough on the other. It was cooked to well done on one side and was rare on the other. When we asked for a refund we were told we didn't know what a medium rare steak looked like and that maybe I should order a medium in the future. I will admit I am no chef however having one for a brother in law i do know what I am ordering. The chips were also cold when it came out.

In the end, They did however agree to a refund on the steak.

Things out of their control: Telstra has been spotty on the island for the last couple of days making the eftpos fail and cause delays in the ordering and money taking.

All in all I would say. Yes order the pizza and the ribs, however I would avoid the other menu items. And be prepared to wait about an hour for the food...

Fire and Smoke KI is a haven for those craving a unique and immersive culinary adventure. Even in my hometown, I haven't tasted food this exceptional in a long time. Think twice if you visit this establishment. I have previously aired my conerns with this organization at length only to have heard that another of my guests has been harrassed via private message. The real issue is that of the service. Make sure you receive what you pay for otherwise it will be conveniently forgotton unless you remind them. The obscentie used by staff directly to the customers face when realising their mistake is totally uneccessary, especially when children are present. I have requested an apology on a number of occassions which has not been forthcoming yet one of the staff members has the audacity to call me (us). bogans! I am not happy and will never return and will ensure I do not recommend this establishment in the future.
