A week ago I went to the sporties to get some cash out, the ATM was out of money so I went to the gaming area to get the funds out.

After my transaction was approved, the staff flat out refused to hand the money over or process a refund because the machine did not dispense the notes. After requesting either the funds or a refund several times I was told they could not do anything and was denied my right to a refund for services they could not fulfil.

I have not heard from anyone at the sporties be it a senior manager or the duty manager that was dealing with it on the night. Goes to show just how far downhill the service or lack there of has gone.

I think at this point it's safe to say the sporties are a bunch of thieves and criminals.

The fact I am across the road has nothing to do with it.this is a you problem not a me problem regardless of it is YOUR supplier or not, it's definitely not on me! Nice try to make it my fault though and pass blame 😂 typical.

The fact you also have the approved receipt should make you question if you did reconcile the machine as to why it is not out? But you clearly do not care.

I have already followed up with my bank which I done on the night because I didn't believe a word I was being told! I have the proof it was approved and that you refused to refund or handover the funds.

I was told someone would contact which was clearly a lie or you can't be stuffed.

Il stand by poor...

Overpriced, Greasy, and Disappointing – Would Not Recommend

We went out for dinner as a family—two adults and one child. We ordered two mains, a large side of wedges, and a bruschetta to start.

The whole experience was disappointing from the start. The bruschetta arrived first and was a joke. The bread was soaked in oil—probably sunflower oil, not even olive—and completely limp. It came with chopped tomatoes that looked like they’d been sitting out too long, and there was no basil at all. There was also some kind of spread underneath—we honestly couldn’t tell what it was, but the closest comparison would be Vegemite. Absolutely inedible.

For mains, I had the grilled plate, which was greasy, fatty, and unpleasant. The sauce was served in a full-sized drinking glass—just a watery, garlic-flavoured butter. My son had wheatsies, which were also dripping in fat, with onion rings that were so greasy we couldn’t even bite into them.

My wife ordered a simple salad—thankfully no frying involved—and that turned out to be the only dish that wasn’t a disaster.

We paid $140 for this meal. The wedges alone were $16–17, and honestly, nothing on the table was worth the price. If you’re staying nearby and have access to a BBQ, just cook your own food—you’ll eat better for half the price.

If you’re just looking for a drink, this place might be okay. But for food?...

Disappointing service, Food was ok but the gravy is funky and ruined the schnitzel and steak. Plates came out still wet we used a napkin to dry them and they ended up stained brown...so not clean... Had to ask for kids drink twice as the server didn't bother to ask what drink or flavor ice cream..asked the girl at bar and she just said ask a waitress instead of "sorry about that I'll get it Right away for you" you know good service? It's Sunday they get paid double time for bad service? People next to us got seafood it smelt old and funky...put us off our food.. Veggies are all pre frozen and microwaved... Broccoli was still cold... When you go out to eat you expect a qualified chef cooked meal with fresh ingredients not frozen microwaved veggies... nothing was freshly made it was stored in a fridge and seemed over date...with premium prices you expect FRESH... I'm not a chef but I can cook better than this... businesses are always complaining they struggle to stay afloat and blame the economy...TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF it's you not the economy...in fact we won't be back this is why business fails or has...

On the recommendation of the local caravan park we decided to get a meal here. The place was busy on a Saturday night with a good crowd. We both ordered the same meal, Roast Lamb Shoulder with roast vegetables. I wish I'd taken a picture before I started as the plate contained 2 tiny pieces of broccoli, 1 piece of carrot and 3 small boiled potatoes that had been deep fried to make them look like they had been roasted all floating on a plate of sickly sweet sauce. A bread roll was dropped into the sauce as well. As for the lamb, it was like a game of "Where's Wally" because it was virtually all fat as per pictures. If I had a mouthful of meat I would be surprised. Being drowned in the sauce it was impossible to know this before starting. The other meal was virtually left untouched. The level of service was ok and the atmosphere was good but the meal looked like the dregs of a tray of scrap fat/meat buried under an unpleasantly sweet sauce. Sadly (for us), the other meals at other tables looked ok. We were just delivered something that was very poor.

Visiting from Brisbane Queenland I was asked to dine here at Sportsman’s Tavern Port Pirie South Australia for lunch last Wednesday, to my delight I see on the menu “Spencer Gulf Whiting”, wow this is great I said to myself, a local fish caught and listed on the menu, but how disappointed I was once the plate was finally delivered…. ☹️ At a cost of $26 AUS (photo attached) management you should be ashamed and your service staff need to relearn customer service. Since my experience and discussing this with the local people here in Port Pirie the Risdon Hotel is the place to dine for good food, service and price.
