Angus & Co. Port Pirie — Restaurant in South Australia

Overall very disappointed. Overpriced for what you get - most of the meals were quite small and quality not great. Two of us ordered the 250g Angus scotch - certainly didn’t look like 250g. I’ve had 250g sizes a lot in various places and they have definitely all been quite a bit bigger than what we were served, even compared to in the past when have been to this same Angus & Co. Salmon, Chicken Parmi and potatoes very average. Mushroom gravy was more like a broth with some shrivelled up mushrooms. Service was bordering on terrible, particularly one person who was very rude. Mix up in a couple meals ordered (but rectified fairly quickly I will say) and given a side that no one ordered but she kept arguing with us that we did order it. You would think with the $8 this side was being sold for, actual cost to buy ingredients & make probably quite a bit less than $8 and the fact we had already spent several hundred dollars all up for drinks, very average food and service that the polite and gracious thing to do in the name of good customer service would not be to keep insisting and arguing in a very accusatory way but to politely say “ok sorry, not sure what happened here” and moved on. We ate at this restaurant in its early years and it was absolutely fantastic back then. Great food, especially steaks and good service. Went back again a couple of times since then and it was nowhere near as nice as the first time, but still relatively ok. Not sure what has happened now but we won’t be back to give it another go. Hopefully the manager steps in and ups the food and service significantly, especially given the prices they charge. We don't mind paying these prices for great food and service. Hope...

Partner and I dined here last night and can highly recommend! The service was friendly and welcoming and the food and atmosphere was exceptional. Chef went out of their way to put together a fabulous, vegan veggie platter, that was not on the menu, but was created with great attention to flavor, assortment of choices and presentation. Unfortunately we forgot to take photos as we couldn’t wait to tuck in. The corn pesto was also fresh and delicious. The slow cooked Angus scotch was flavorful and tender with smashed potatoes being light, crispy and delicious! Asked for a serve of honeyed sesame carrots with the steak and they were only too happy to oblige. Not just good food but a great attitude towards being accommodating, which is rare nowadays! The atmosphere was good the staff pleasant, general food OK. But I ordered Apple pie and double thick cream. I always enjoy Apple pie. BUT The pie was a small bought Apple slice ,not produced on site , the so called double thick cream, wasn't double cream, just frothy cream shot out of a bottle. Only deserved a 2 out of ten I was also unlucky on me salad, cold pumpkin and tough greens, it only would get a 3 out of ten. Notwithstanding my meal, my partner was very satisfied with the seafood liguini and would have given it a easy 8.
