We went to this place based on a tourist article stating it was good. When making the booking they made it seem they were doing us a favour to “squeeze” us in because they were so booked up. We arrived, were seated and waited an exceptionally long time to have anyone come to the table. We were two adults and one child. We ordered two soft drinks, a glass of wine and water for the table. One of the water glasses still had lipstick on it. The wine glass was also dirty. For our meal we decided to share a starter and a main. We ordered the spinach and ricotta cannelloni (starter) and the “creamy”fettuccine carbonara (main) explaining to them that we would be sharing. We also ordered the garlic rolls. Again an exceptionally long wait for the food. The main (fettuccine) came out first, before the starter (cannelloni). A giant bowl in the middle of the tiny table. We repeated to the server that we were sharing and would need bowls. Aside from all of that, the fettuccine was brown and watery looking. The server came back out with one bowl. One. We sent her back to get two more for the other two people at the table 🙄 The main came out before the starter. Then the they brought the cannelloni out. With absolutely no room on the table. The server was trying to cram it onto the corner of the table under my elbow. I took it from her and held it in my hand and she just stood there with a blank look then walked away. I served up the cannelloni into our bowls and put the large dish aside on their out of use buffet. Both dishes were lukewarm at best. Waiting that long for our meals, they should have been hot. The tomato sauce in the cannelloni was lacking flavour and depth. It was runny and weak. But the most horrific part was the so-called creamy fettuccine carbonara. There was an odd indescribable flavour in this dish. There was nothing creamy about this brownish sauce on the pasta. The pancetta looked undercooked and was not cut into manageable bites, as they were large pieces. It was a bit gross. The dish was inedible. Note the photos. One photo is how fettuccine carbonara is supposed to look. The other, Anna’s. This is probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I do...
Read moreOur experience at Anna’s was nothing short of incredible, incredibly disappointing that is. We had a 6 person party, 3 of which got the so called “creamy fettuccine carbonara”. There was a weird indescribable “flavour”, and it left a strong aftertaste of said weird “flavour”. There was nothing creamy about the brown watery sauce on the pasta, it doesn’t even resemble anything close to a normal carbonara sauce, taste, and look. The pancetta in the carbonara looked undercooked and was in large pieces making it very hard/ not enjoyable to eat. It was horrible and by far the worst carbonara I have ever had the displeasure of eating. The dish was inedible and all three of us left majority of it as it was vile. One person ordered the lasagne, which had a very strange taste and aftertaste in your mouth. Another ordered the Cannelloni, which was also not good, and had a powdery texture. Along with the horrible food, comes the forgetful service staff, though I don’t blame them as they were clearly understaffed, and were very busy. Though I feel it is still worth mentioning, as maybe the management will see this and understand that they need more staff on. We asked for table water at the start of the meal, after about 10-15 it still hadn’t arrived, after which we got the attention of a different staff member who then brought us the water, though there were no cups on the table, so the server asked if we’d like glasses for the water, we said yes, obviously 😆, by the time we had all finished (not that we finished the food, we had just finished looking at it, smelling it, and trying to figure out what the weird and nauseating taste was) the cups still hadn’t arrived. After all this we decided we would mention something to one of the wait staff as it was truly one of the worst experiences we had experienced, to which the wait staff simply said “sorry about that”. So after all of that we still had to pay full price for a meal so revolting that we couldn’t stand the smell of it. I highly recommend going anywhere other than here. If Anna’s decide to discuss this further don’t hesitate to reach out so we can resolve this, and hopefully get our...
Read moreDining at Anna's in my opinion, is the jewel in the crown of your trip to Stanthorpe. As you arrive to find you'll be having dinner in a glorious character Queenslander elevated above the street you're already exciting to start your dining experience. We were greeted by warm, friendly and welcoming staff and invited into a home of even more charming featuring including pressed metal ceilings, VJ walls and decorative archways. Table staff seated us comfortably and offered some tips on the comprehensive array of traditional Italian dishes and treats at the buffet which can be coupled with a selection of local quality wines (we had Syymphony Hill Shiraz, delicious). The food was even better than the atmosphere I've already described. The range of Antipasti, velvety, silky pastas, spicy tomato sauce served with mussels and deserts (including my favourite "canollis" filled with smooth and rich custard) was simply outstanding. The recipes offered are traditional and have been prepared with care and love from a cook with a life time of experience. It was lovely to see Anna her self bringing out newly prepared plates to replace those already emptied where we expressed our thanks for the delicious food. Youre in for a culinary treat dining here and it comes at a price that was half what we've paid in up market Italian restaurants in Brissy. I and my wife look forward to our next visit to Stanthorpe and another evening at Anna's Restaurant. Kerry & Gail...
