Very disappointing visit. I had (or rather did not have), a Caesar salad with chicken. I opted to not have any onion as it most certainly does not belong in a Caesar but foolishly went along with the odd addition of "Changs noodles" ?????? The salad was small, limp and HOT. The greens(reportedly "fancy lettuce") consisted of almost exclusively baby spinach leaves. The chicken resembled( and I suspect was) packaged poached "shredded chicken.A diced up fried egg and a cut up piece of hot(but not crispy) bit of bacon was thrown over the top, then smothered in standard store bought creamy dressing that of course turned hot on contact with the egg and bacon. The poor couple of spinach leaves ( though they had no right being anywhere near this disaster) did not stand a chance under all the heat and of course just wilted . I had 2 mouth fulls and returned the dish to the kitchen, I explained myself and stated that I simply was not enjoying the meal. The staff took the meal back and generously allowed me to leave the establishment. NO Apology or offer of reimbursement was offered. All in all a very...

Walking into Slaps Cafe in Stanthorpe, I expected a hearty breakfast, but what arrived at our table was nothing short of a culinary landslide. At first, I assumed the mountain of food emerging from the kitchen was for a large group, perhaps a football team or a small village. But no, it was just for one person. When my meal landed in front of me, I considered renting a forklift to get through the sheer volume of bacon. And don't even get me started on the eggs, I'm fairly certain the Australian egg shortage can be traced directly to the plate in front of me. Somewhere, a chicken is still recovering. After half an hour of eating, I looked down and realized I had barely dented the behemoth that is the Mega Breakfast. I glanced to my left, expecting to see my brother, only to find that he had vanished behind his own towering meal, never to be seen again. If you find him, please tell him we miss him. In all seriousness, the food was incredible, the portions were insane, the staff were fantastic and sweet, and great valuable meals and if you leave this place hungry, I...

I ordered the vegetarian breakfast this morning and was left disappointed with the meal. The baked beans were stone cold — while the menu didn’t specify whether they’d be served hot or cold, one would reasonably expect them to be hot, especially given the climate.

Additionally, the mushrooms listed on the menu were missing entirely from the plate. While the scrambled eggs were nicely done, they weren’t enough to elevate the overall impression of the dish.

On a positive note, the kitchen appeared clean and well-maintained during service, which is reassuring. The front-of-house staff were friendly and welcoming. However, it seems the kitchen is currently letting the business down. That said, the service team should also be catching these issues before meals reach the table. A bit more attention to detail from both sides would...

I have no idea why this place is called “Slaps”… I’m sure there is a story behind it. Regardless, if you can get past the name, this is actually a very good little coffee house cafe. Three of us went for Breakfast on a Saturday Morning In the September school holidays and the place was heaving. Extremely busy… the prices are super affordable, and whilst I am not sure this is because we were not from around this area, the serving sizes appeared to be equally, generous. The food was on point 👌🏼the menu is gigantic. Look, the only complaint we had was the time it took for our food, which clocked in at 1hr and 15mins. To be fair, we were at the end of rush hour in the middle of school holidays and I think the rest of the experience (people watching Stanthorpe) was enough to soak up the wait for us.

Slaps is always on our list of places to visit on our family trips to Stanthorpe and even though it's now under new ownership it definitely does not disappoint. In our 2 night stay recently we had breakfast there twice and also made stops just for some of their amazing cinnamon donuts. I had the eggs benny with smoked salmon and my missus and son shared a mega breakfast (that i also helped to polish off because it was so much food). The staff were super friendly and the owner made us feel so welcome and even remembered us when we would come in. We wished we lived closer to be able to have Slaps as our regular coffee and meal go to but can't wait for our next visit.

Dropped in here for lunch on Sat. Very busy but not packed. Most of the meals were good except the vegetarian open grill which was essentially a single slice of bread with lots of carrot olive sundried tomatoes on top. (Edit: We did modify this to be dairy free.) Bit small but the serve of chips on side was nice. Nachos, wrap, barramundi meal was all good. Chips for 2 were nice but little small for $6. All orders were served as requested ie dairy free or no sauce. Even though busy orders arrived quickly. Nice atmosphere. Parking is easy.
