Coolum Thai Spice — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

It was early when we arrive at the restaurant, we didn't have a reservation, however they were accommodating and we were seated at a table for two, this is where the positives end. The waitress brought the menus and a tepid bottle of water, she then forgot to return, she eventually returned after being gestured numerous times, baring in mind that there were only two other diners seated and a couple of take aways ordered hovering around. The menu was fairly unimaginative, listing the usual suspects, we both opted for satay chicken, followed by cashew chicken and thick spicy red curry, however I wished we'd carried on walking by. The satay chicken was tasteless and dry, actually it was beyond dry, had I scraped the bland sauce off (which I assume was out of a jar, although when mentioned to the owner, he insisted it wasn't 🤔) I could have sanded the furniture with them, to make matters worse the drinks order didn't arrive, once again had to chase after the staff. The meal only got worse from there, the red beef curry was inedible, the sauce was thin, watery and tasteless, the vegetables were well over cooked (stewed) and the beef was as chewy as jerky, I couldn't stomach more than a mouth. I really dislike giving bad reviews, especially in this tough economic climate, but really don't serve awful food and give bad service, I work hard for...

Awful customer service. We ordered some food to dine in and after 15min waiting, we asked for tap water and the lady behind the counter said in a rude way that she charged for take away and to dine in would be more expensive. We were confused as we said 2 times we would like to dine in and were not expecting this situation. She offered to put the food in a plate if we paid the 12 dollars difference. After the poorly customer service we decided to take the food away. The pad Thai was good but the fried rice is nothing special. Good portion. Overall disappointing experience.

Since I can’t publish a reply, I’ll edit this review. Our accent it’s not a problem, we both work hospitality and have a fluent clear English. In many years living abroad I’ve NEVER had a misunderstanding problem due to my accent. Also, money was not a problem. We would be happy to pay whatever the price was for the table service. Im A Bit Fussy & Have Pretty High Expectations On The Rare Occasion I Dine In Or Order Take Out. I Ordered A Spur Of The Moment Lunch Take Away - Satay Chicken Skewers - They Were Beautiful & Tender, Very Generous On The Satay & Had A nice Little Bit Of Crunch With Small Side Salad/Garnish. Stirfry Basil w/Chicken Was Absolutely Delicious... Full Of Flavour, Fresh Herbs, The Chicken Was Tender & The Great Variety Of Vegetables Where Fresh Crunchy & Had The Perfect Amount Of Wok Char Goin' On !!!
