Disappointed and Ignored
A month ago, I sent an email to info@yourmatesbrewing.com about an issue I experienced with Your Mates Lager—and never got a reply. Here’s what I wrote at the time:
“I’m writing this email because I’m genuinely disappointed with my recent experience with Your Mates. I’m not someone who usually sends complaints or writes negative reviews—if I don’t like a product, I simply stop buying it. But as a marketing professional living on the Sunshine Coast and a long-time supporter of the brand, I felt it was worth reaching out to try and understand what’s going on. I’ve been a loyal fan of Your Mates Lager since its launch. It quickly became my go-to beer, and I’ve even managed to convert quite a few friends along the way. However, back in February, I had a really unpleasant surprise. I was at a BBQ at a friend’s place and opened a can of Lager I had purchased directly from the Your Mates bar in Birtinya—unfortunately, it tasted stale and was undrinkable. Since then, I’ve had several similar experiences in different settings—at least six cans with the same off taste. I’ve noticed that some cans have red or black markings on the bottom, while others don’t have any. I’m not sure if this has something to do with a specific batch, but it’s definitely unusual. One of my friends has already stopped drinking Your Mates altogether because of this. I’ve held off, hoping it was just a one-off production issue, because I really love the brand and want to keep supporting it. I hope this email reaches someone who can help shed some light on what’s happened. I’m not even sure if it’ll be answered, but I wanted to try.
Sadly, my email was never acknowledged. No explanation, no apology, no follow-up. And Worst, last week i just had another stale lager can.

Read moreWent here today, relatively quiet Saturday, (we got a table next to the kids section straight away with a table to spare)ordered drinks - Ipas for myself double beef burger, chicken burger, kids plates, kids drinks. all good. the usual 40 minute wait wasn't a problem, we were happy to be away from work and playing with the kids in the playground. 55 minutes came by, still fine, even when my wife questioned the time frame. A staff member came up and asked had we received our kids chicken nuggets yet, we respond "no" , he walks back to investigate. I order more drinks Heaps Normal non-alc beer for my partner (as she's pregnant) and a wine for myself. Food arrives, and my wife's chicken burger is pink. Feeling uneasy about this given my wife's situation we took the meal back and asked for it to be replaced. We were told no, and that this is how it was meant to be as it was a chicken thigh. I have never cooked chicken thighs, nor has any chicken burger i've ever eaten been pink so it could very well be ok but my wife and i just didn't want to risk it. A simple answer would have been for the venue to take our concerns into consideration and replace the meal. Instead we were told we would need to buy another meal and were made to feel like we were the problem when in actual fact, a second who overheard our predicament and chat with the manager agreed with us that she was uneasy eating the chicken burger as well.
I don't write reviews and i definitely don't write negative reviews lightly but the venues handling of our order both by casual staff and by the management was pretty appalling.
Walked out hungry and disappointed. We have frequented Your mates at least once a month for going on over a year and we won't be back after this...

My party were booked w 2 months of advance, before 2 weeks to happen I started to try to contact them, impossible, no one’s pick up the phone or call you back. Then I sent an email, with a few requests (like a table with a view of the playground but not in front of it), they answered only its all updated. Then finally someone picked up my call and just confirmed answered my questions in a rush confirming that all was all good. When I got there, they choose the 3 fixes separated tables for (15 people) was in front of the playground! It’s was super hot, noise and uncomfortable! After 3 hours they asked for the table, saying that they have a booking for the event of the house. I spoke with the manager explaining that I understand n I tried to contact them and nobody replies saying that 2 or 3 hours would be enough for a party!!! He said sorry but we don’t have any more tables as today is happening an event and it’s 40 bucks pp! I said I can’t ask my friends to leave now, they said well I can, I said no you not going to do that w my friends n I also have a cake in the fridge! I said it’s “So embarrassing”! Nothing more to say I was worried n thinking what to do w my guests! Decided to cut the cake there instead take it somewhere else, asked for a lighter an they didn’t have one, nobody had. The cake was warm, and obviously it broke all when I cut. The all experience was a complete disaster! They are not going to have my support...
