I went to ambi's today to order chhola bhatura takeaway. The girl at the counter was extremely rude (seriously, train your staffs in customer service before placing them). she asked me in a very rude tone, how many serves of chola bhatura. I asked her how many come in 1 serve. She very smugly replied 2. I told her then I want a 1 serve takeaway. Not all Customers have the idea what "a serve" constitutes of. You need to train your staff to smile and speak politely. There are 5 other restaurants in Pendle hill and we would rather go to the others than be served by such attitude bearing people. Read moreVery mixed experience with this restaurant. We were taken there the first time by 'the locals' and loved every single dish that was ordered. Service was prompt and friendly and atmosphere was genuine south indian :)
Two subsequent trips were a waste of time and money, as service was woeful; kids' order was brought out last and only after repeated reminders after waiting patiently in an almost empty restaurant for 45 minutes.. Food was completely ordinary, although there were a couple of decent dishes.
I have to underline that we were genuinely excited to go there those two subsequent trips. To get substandard food AND service is such a shame.
Having two visits in a row being consistently disappointing, we will not be going back there again. A shame, since the first visit was stellar. It must have been a flash...
Read moreNawabi, Chettinad, Chicken Korma are better than in Anjappar. The dishes were highly tastier than the other Indian restaurants in Sydney. But, Goat curry although of good taste, was not cleaned of bones. Cheese Naan is not as tasty or robust as compared to Anjappar. When given an order for 10 people the delivery was on time for dinner takeaway. Dosa was bland and tasteless. Lacked the toor dhal content and more percentage of flour. Masala not as good as it should be and made of bad quality potatoes. Chutney is not tasty or hot enough. Sambar was watery and lacks material. Lacks the depth of classic Dosa taste. This is the best place for Aussies who want a taste of classic ...
