AROI THAI Cremorne — Restaurant in Sydney

I don't normally do restaurant reviews as I wouldn't then have time for my day job. So I usually only do them when I'm badly disappointed. There are many good Thai restaurants in Cremorne and bordering suburbs. Over the past 30 years, I have eaten at almost all of them, some of them a dozen times. This was the worst Thai food I have had in my life.

When I picked up the food, the woman that served me was polite. The entree (4 spring rolls) was a good size and were pretty good. The prawn red curry had 3 prawns. Although they were very large, there was no taste.

The larb spicy minced meat salad was ok. The tom yum chicken fried rice was terrible. Half of the pieces of chicken were chicken. The other half looked like chicken but were masses of fat / skin.

A day later, I still grimace at the memory. Although the prices were slightly below the average for the area, I would rather pay a little bit more and eat at Thai restaurants (or any restaurant) where I know...

I work in the area and am a bit obsessed with this place. The first time I visited, a few months ago, I ordered Chicken Larb and I honestly wasn't expecting it to be THAT GOOD. I spent five weeks in Thailand earlier this year and can confirm that this Larb? It tastes like it does in Thailand. Now I've started trying different things on the menu and noticed that even the meat preparation changes depending on the dish... True commitment to good food. I walked into this small restaurant which has been open for 5 months and was greeted by a friendly owner who runs the restaurant with her husband. I ordered chicken Pad Thai and it tasted very authentic with a hint of chilli coming through in the noodles. Lots of thought had gone into the preparation of this dish as it came with lots of small additions you don't normally get at other thai restaurants.
