I recently visited Big Tree cafe and had the pleasure of trying their Mixed Berry Smoothie and Big Breakfast, and I must say, it was an exceptional dining experience that deserves nothing less than a 5-star rating.

The ambiance of Big Tree cafe is charming and inviting. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the cozy atmosphere, warm lighting, and tasteful decor that immediately put me at ease. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing breakfast or brunch.

I recalled this place being great the last time I visited a few years ago. I recommended to a friend we go for lunch today. We sat at our table for at least 20 mins before realising we needed to get our own menus - staff had walked past us many times but no one suggested we serve ourselves or drop a couple of menus on the table as they went past. We chose our meals, mine - steak sandwich, hers omelette with sourdough. Mine was quite nice, steak was tender with a tasty relish and caramelised onions. Hers, sourdough was not really up to the mark and was already heavily buttered and cold, omelette not very tasty and was a bit dry. However, the most inappropriate part of our visit was watching what I assumed to be the manager deal with a customer at their table outside about an issue with what was ordered then come inside and in a raised voice slag off the customer to her staff for the customer not knowing how the item would be served. It was crass and unnecessary. Then about a half hour later, berate a staff member loudly in the middle of the cafe for not explaining the difference between some acai menu items to customers who seemd upset about what had been served. It was loud enough to disturb our conversation and then continued on loudly behind the counter. We both decided we wouldn't be going back. I had a terrible experience at this café due to the lack of professionalism and blatant disregard for proper service standards.

First, they delivered our food to the wrong table, where it sat for about 10 minutes. We had no idea it was ours until they brought over our chips with the wrong sauce. When they realized their mistake, they took the food back from the incorrect table, went into the kitchen, and 30 seconds later brought those same plates out to us. I mentioned that the dishes had been sitting at another table for about 10 minutes, to which the server responded that no one had touched them (how would she know?) and that the food was still hot (it was cold).

The chips were still served with the wrong sauce, so I asked the waitress to fix it. Shockingly, she reached into my bowl of chips with her bare hands to remove the sauce! We immediately told her that she had just touched our food. Additionally, they brought the wrong coffee, and our food was cold. They took the dishes away to supposedly redo them, but I’m not sure if they simply reheated them because they still brought back the chips with the wrong sauce. We had to request yet again for aioli, and they brought mayonnaise instead.

Throughout this entire experience, we did not receive a single apology.

In short, a highly disappointing experience with absolutely no professionalism...
