I usually go to Bitton at Alexandria as it is not too far from home. The food, service & atmosphere is always good. I occasionally go to Bitton Rose Bay with friends who live closer to that area. Had lunch there yesterday & we found it to be a bit disappointing. It was very busy, we had a reservation. We were greeted & shown to our table, order taken, but took a long time for our food to arrive. After 50 mins we had to ask abt it, it arrived soon after. An hour was a long wait. I had my favourite cheese tart & tomato salad, which was delicious as always, my friend had Caesar salad. We had the crepes with orange jelly & ice cream for dessert which were also delicious. A couple of negatives this time. I had also ordered the warm baguette, which didnt arrive until I asked. It was not warm & crusty as usual, but cold, dry & crumbly & not fresh. I ordered the Robert Stein Cabernet Sauvignon & pointed it out on the list, to the waitress. She returned with the wine & it was white. Exactly the same thing happened on my previous visit, that was why I had pointed it out this time, in the vin rouge section of the list. It seems they hear 'sauvignon blanc' for some reason. Its one of my favourite wineries & nice to see a NSW regional wine on the list, Mudgee is in NSW. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer re the toilet. It doesnt look good, rather worn & cramped, but relatively clean. Having to pass thru a very messy yard, with the big garbage bins isnt great. Perhaps a small screen could help. Also I am temporarily 'disabled' having recently had a knee replacement & the toilet is not very accessible. A rail would...
Read moreCame for brunch today. Was sat down quickly, place was quite busy at the time so took a while to order but not a problem. Food took a long while to come, but considering how busy it was fine.
When our food arrived and after we had started eating the manager came over and told us we would have to move tables as they had sat us in the next door restaurants outdoor space?
There was another table of older gentleman who had finished eating and were waiting for another round of coffees who also had to move but they didn’t have a problem as they had finished eating
The manager came over picked up our table and dragged it across the street plonking it in the middle of the pathway. When I asked why he didn’t move us before we got our food or why we were sat somewhere they couldn’t sit people he said why are you complaining the other people had no problem I don’t understand the issue?
How can they think it’s okay to move people halfway through their meal by dragging the table away?
While the few bites I had of food was very nice I wouldn’t come back to the place due to the bad service and the terrible manager who has clearly never heard of customer service. All we need was 5 mins to finish our food and we would have been happy. Completely ruined...
