A family run Cafe in an Historic 1930's Art Deco Building now maintained by the NSW NAtional Parks. There are "million Dollar Views" over Orchard Picnic Grounds (naked after one of Hornsby Shires early councillors) and the Hawkesbury River/Berowra Creek. Expensive Motor Yachts and Sailing Yachts jostle for space in the nearby Marina. The Ferry service from Brooklyn, Palm Beach and Ettalong calls regularly at the wharf nearby. It is a short easy walk from the Ferry Wharf to the cafe and picnic grounds. The cafe has an excellent menu comprising All Day Breakfast, Lunch and other meals by arrangement. The staffs are friendly, efficient and keen to ensure that your visit is care free and trouble free. I regularly meet each week for coffee and cake and to shoot the breeze at this cafe. We like to eat on the outdoor terrace which has tables with large umbrellas and others for larger groups with overhead gazebos to shelter from the sun and winds when they become more than the usual gentle zephyrs that are cooling and refreshing on a sunny summer's day or warming in the cooler months of the year. Meals are large and feature a wide range of cafe/bistro style dishes with the freshest seasonal produce in abundance. Children and elderly visitors are all well accommodated at this cafe. There is a ramp for those who are infirm or unable to use the stairs. There is a doorway from the cafe to the National Parks Office that has a wide range of maps, books and other guides and gifts to purchase and staffs to help you with information about the park and its facilities. There is plenty of ticketed parking (entry to the park also covers parking at the cafe etc.) directly opposite the cafe and picnic grounds. A wonderful place to relax and unwind and watch the world go by. There is also lots of interesting wildlife that regularly visit the area...
Read moreMy husband and I ordered battered fish and chips. The battered fish was amazing, the batter was different to any other that we've tried and it was very delicious. The chips was nice and crunchy and also had it's own unique flavour and very tasty. The dish even had a small serving of garden salad and dressing and it also came with a container of tartar sauce.
We ordered a carrot cake and it was just perfect. The texture was just right as it was not too dry nor too wet. The icing on the cake complimented it very well.
The overall pricing was in par with any other cafe and they even had other wonderful meal options on the menu.
We ordered two soy lattes with syrup and the staff got that spot on. It had the correct temperature and easy to drink.
The dining was very clean and it felt cool inside despite being 29° outside.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming as we entered the cafe. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner of the place who offered to take a photo of my husband and I while we were taking a selfie. "Thank you so much".
There is also a a visitor and information next door to the cafe where you can buy some souvenirs.
Outside the Bobbins Inn, there are some water activities that you and your family can enjoy such as paddle boats and canoes. The external area has a large Park for picnic and there are many bench seats with shelter including public toilets.
There are many parking area, keeping in mind that the location of the place is within the national park and therefore you will need to pay $12 to enter from either at the main entrance gate or the available ticket machines.
This is definitely a great place to visit whether you're a tourist or a local.
Thank you again Bobbin Inn Team. We hope to...
Read moreThis is my mothers favourite cafe/restaurant. The outlook is wonderful for me although my 92yr old mum seems almost oblivious. Autumnal leaves are still on show. This time of year there can be mists in the saddles of the hills and they often have an open fire. What my mum loves, loves most are the hosts Janene and Roland and their consistently caring staff. Every time we have been there since they reopened the NPWS cafe they treat all their customers as if they were personal friends or family members they really liked (and we are not always easy to please; working on that: mum and I fight a bit, I always want to sit outside where My ASD brain enjoys the quiet - waterways and forest- but mum insists on inside beside the generous waterview windows) . They personalise the menu to suit mums needs (tiny serve of chips and she tells me she is not a rabbit), variety of well presented dishes. I like the Eastern Mediterranean platter, but best for me is that the grilled barramundi is consistently well cooked and never dry. Really best for me is the generous selection of cakes and sweets, most out of their own kitchen, all worthy of the generous servings.
The ramps have acceptable gradients and the bathroom is large, clean and there is always someone to open the door when needed Parking is generally convenient best accessed from the western upriver side around the back of the building with easy...
