Normally don’t post reviews but I was really disgusted with the customer service. I ordered Take-Away coffee and the lady who seemed to be the shift manager….(petite French accent long haired olive skinned medium built totally would have taken her name as my friend recommended but I was too annoyed to even bother at the time)told me can’t have it there as it was different pricing. No big deal. I didn’t argue. I was fine with that so I waited for my friend by the wharf and when she arrived we decided we will go back and have breakfast as we had quite a bit of time before the ferry left and when we went in (we were getting ushered in by another waitress) she told us we can’t get in when she hasn’t even asked if my friend and I would order?! This wasn’t the end—my friend and I ordered a proper breakfast and she smugly asked “well, are you getting anything to drink?” when she literally saw me order the LARGE flat white Take-Away literally five minutes ago. I plainly told her no. We tried to laugh it off as my friend was getting mean girl vibes from her and I had to explain what happened. Then, literally the second I finished my breakfast she grabbed my plate away without asking. Started preparing to clear the table when my friend was still eating her meal. She was in a real huff about us coming back when we were paying customers? I don’t get it. No wonder the place was half empty with an attitude like that. The waitresses training under her were nice but she was plain rude. Asked for a receipt and she said everything is on the iPad wouldn’t even email me a copy when I asked. God knows if she charged us extra for a tip which she didn’t deserve. Just a heads up to management. I wouldn’t go through this effort but it was shocking...

I’ve always loved GIGI Café and visited regularly. The staff have always been nice, and it’s been one of my favourite spots. But this time, I was extremely disappointed.

We visited on Sunday, August 10 at 3:50 pm as a group of 5 (4 adults + 1 child). We ordered 2 hot chocolates, 1 coffee, 2 raisin snails, and 1 croissant. Later, we ordered another hot chocolate because my daughter loved the latte art on the first ones.

Two serious issues: Food hygiene – When bringing the pastries, one raisin snail fell onto the chair. Our server — a male with curly blonde hair — picked it up with his hand and placed it back on the plate before serving it to us. Poor service attitude – The extra hot chocolate arrived without latte art. I explained to the same server that we ordered it specifically because my daughter wanted the latte art. Instead of offering to fix it, he insisted I “should have mentioned it” — completely missing the point and showing no willingness to correct the order.

I’ve never had an experience like this at GIGI before. Between the hygiene lapse and the refusal to fix a simple mistake, this visit has completely changed my view of the café. Sadly, I won’t be returning, and I hope management addresses both...

Be very weary of this place - over charging and then arguing when getting caught. Ordered 1 long black & 1 herbal tea - sign says $4.5 each. Turns out it's $5.5 each when dining in, that's fine that's normal. Went to pay came to $13.50, questioned why, turns out it included "suggested tip" of $2.50... I never said yes to this so called tip, and no it wasn't a surcharge. It was manually put in, which is illegal. You're not allowed to charge people any tips without asking OR there is a tip option on the EFT machine which the customer can decline. Seen some reviews saying the same thing, dodgy people & have just lost 2 customers who frequent Sydney each week... will be telling my whole office to avoid this place. Did get my refund and you could tell they had never been called out before, let alone from a female. I'll happily take my $2.50 and go anywhere else, it's the principle...

Caffe Gigi Caffe Gigi is a charming café in an excellent location right near the waterfront in Sidney. It’s a perfect spot if you’re looking to relax and enjoy some beautiful ocean views. One of the highlights is the nice patio area, which offers a comfortable and casual setting to sit back and take in the fresh sea breeze. The coffee and pastries are good, with a decent variety to choose from. Service is generally okay — sometimes a little slow during busy times, but the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can linger a bit longer, whether you're catching up with friends or just enjoying a quiet moment by the water. If you’re visiting Sidney and want a relaxed café with a great atmosphere and scenic surroundings, Caffe Gigi is definitely worth a stop.

I came across Caffe Gigi by chance and was instantly drawn to its unique setup and welcoming vibe. What made the visit even more special was spotting a vibrant parrot right at the counter — such a rare and delightful surprise. I ordered a Hot Chocolate and an Oat Latte Coffee. Both drinks were excellent — the hot chocolate was smooth, rich, and comforting, while the oat latte was perfectly balanced with a creamy texture and deep coffee flavor. The service was friendly and efficient, and the overall atmosphere felt modern yet warm. It’s a place that makes you want to come back, whether for a quick takeaway or a relaxing break. A wonderful find that combines great coffee with a memorable experience. Highly recommended. #genastar
