Cove Bar Grill — Restaurant in Sydney

Went there recently for our Christmas dinner with girls from work. View was fantastic and place looked nice but food was very disappointing and a real let down. Ordered the fisherman's basket. Fish fillet was dry and chewy and old, batter was so thick and had hard crust that you could barely cut with knife and was full of oil. Also had a weird smell to it as if it was cooked in old oil that has been reused too many times. I couldn't even tell what the other small battered pieces on the plate were as they also had a strange taste to them that barely tasted like fish at all and had an unusual texture to it almost like frozen supermarket quality. Also had the Haloumi cheese fingers which did'nt have the regular taste or density of normal Haloumi cheese. Other ladies had pizza which looked like it had more cheese than any other topping on it. Went out for dinner last week with my mum and another guest for my mum's birthday. The lady who signed us in and was extremely rude and condescending towards us. For example, my mum was trying to get her birthday voucher from the machine near the concierge desk and the lady was shouting to her to just "press the button" instead of having a little patience and being kind to her, especially on her birthday. This was a very disappointing way to start the evening.

The experience went uphill from there. The food was reasonably priced and delicious and had large servings. The woman in the bistro was very kind and friendly. The girl behind the bar in the bistro was also very kind and friendly. We got a couple of the special cocktails which were only $10 each and well worth it. Would definitely go back...

Visiting from Qld I dined here on Saturday night with my elderly father who likes to go here for his Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapple(which he usually takes home). The staff were so attentive seating us and taking our order and the lovely waitress made a point of letting Dad know that she knew his pizza order, which he was rather chuffed about. I had the chicken breast on their specials board and it was cooked exceptionally well. There is a really nice family friendly vibe and all of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was very busy and the service was still prompt. The floor staff really take care of their customers here and I noticed them attending to everyone in a very caring way. Meals are well priced....
