Sharks at Kareela — Restaurant in Sydney

I ordered a Deluxe Scotch Sandwich. I would have preferred just an ordinary steak sandwich but that was not on the menu. A plate arrived filled to capacity with a huge rectangular roll and heaps and heaps of chips. Quantity was there but was it quality? It also came with a steak knife which I thought odd for a sandwich. Although called a sandwich it was not made with bread. I attempted to pick it up but the onion rings started slipping out and I could see there was no way I could get my mouth wide enough to eat it as a ‘sandwich’. I never have any trouble with a Big Mac but this ‘steak sandwich’ was impossible for me to get my mouth around. I put it back on the plate. There was absolutely no room on the plate to open it up so I pulled out part of the steak with my fork and tried to cut it with my ordinary knife – too tough for that. I now knew why I was given a steak knife. Even using that it was very tough to cut and tough to chew. I would not even want this ever again even...

Friendly service, actually, very friendly service and accommodating

The venue is large in area, open tables on the main floor area seating plenty of people with smaller booths on the edges of the room, accommodating 6 people

At table service! They come and take your order at the table which is really nice for a club/bistro style. They also bring the bill to your table also or you go to the counter to pay

Food sizes are generous, not over the top but feeling like you got good value for your spend

Our food was (non member, members are about $2 cheaper)

Rump steak $26, beef brisket $24, garlic bread $7 (enough for 4), pizza $19

Chips were large in quantity and were larger than normal thickness chips

Mushroom sauce was $2.50, which I thought should have been included with the steak but was packed full of mushrooms. Very generous serving actually
