Golden Pond Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Sydney

Saddens me to even write this review but after our last take away order we won't be returning anytime soon. Golden Pond is where my family ordered Chinese once a month for 30 years and have never been disappointed till now 😬 the flavour of the food has definitely changed! For example The boneless lemon chicken - the sauce is runny and has barely any zing like it used too. Honey king prawns, we would have to literally scrape the honey out of the container and it was delicious and now it's watery sauce and soggy prawns. The combo chow mein is watery and the soft noodles have zero flavour. The short soup is a let down and missing the Chinese broth flavour and is now lacking in any flavour. Please bring back the original recipes. We don't want to have to look for a different Chinese restaurant after all...

We ordered tonight through Deliveroo. Firstly, it came late. Secondly we didn’t get any lettuce leaves with our san chow bow. When we rang the restaurant to complain the lady that answered had no idea how she could help us except for sending our lettuce leaves again that would take an hour to get to us. She then tried to blame it on Deliveroo yet it was golden pond that delivered the food initially! The food we did get had no flavour whatsoever and ended up throwing most of it away. We used to order from this restaurant at least once a month. But never again. I’m wondering if they have changed hands or if have just become lazy due to covid. Either way I recommend you do not order from here as you will be bitterly disappointed and regret...

Wow! If you are reading reviews to decide where to eat in Engadine like I was an hour ago, stop looking you’ve found a great place! We were slightly hesitant as we approached and there was only one other couple in the whole restaurant, but as soon as we took our first bites we knew we had made the right choice. This place was cranking out take out orders nonstop and still our food got to the table in under ten minutes. It was all hot, freshly cooked, and so delicious. The veggie fried rice was loaded with so much variety of vegetables. The drunken chicken so flavorful with the big chunks of ginger—yum! The dim sum were the perfect textures with a great sauce.
