Not sure if this restaurant has had a recent change in management, or an overhaul perhaps, but I'm a little disappointed. I've been coming here for a while and the bigger breakfast options had great portion sizes. The cost averages around $17-20. I was a litte shocked today when I ordered something smaller: 2 slices of toast, with smashed avocado and 2 poached eggs with a strong latté. The bill came to a whopping $17! Nevermind, I'm sure I'll get a decently sized meal for the price, it is avocado, after all. Wrong. What I received was a single slice of toast, cut in half with a faint, thin smearing of avocado. The eggs, I'll note, were nicely poached and the coffee was good. You'll see from the picture that the portion size simply doesn't merit the cost. It's frankly insulting. This is Engadine, not Surrey Hills.

The food was superb, coffee was good and no issues with the service. Now that I'm a local again and on parental leave for a while I'm slowly walking around town trying the brekky menus. First up was Chill and I had the British bean breaky in honour of England advancing into the World cup qtrs! and a long black for my coffee. The coffee and meal came out quick and was delicious. The homemade beans were perfect, the bacon crispy in the right places and the sourdough was toasted enough & nicely buttered. I had no issues with the coffee, it wasn't memorable but it also wasn't bad. No problems with the service, everyone was pleasant and helpful. The indoor seeing was nothing flash but it was nice and clean and that's what counts!

Nice cafe with indoor and outdoor (under cover) seating The coffee was good, but the apple and rhubarb crumble was the best I have ever had - Well worth giving it a try Sometimes in life, you need to take a chance- thats how I ended up married So sometimes taking a risk is a good thing. Sometimes, it is not My wife just told me that our marriage is a good thing - who am I to argue

They say that the best test for quality is consistency, and that is why Chill is my feel-good go-to cafe when I'm in Engadine.

I can honestly say that I have only ever been satisfied with a meal or beverage, and the service has always been efficient, prompt and friendly. The varied menu and choice of eating indoors or covered alfresco is a bonus as well, and it has a great positive vibe.

I am very surprised to read some negative reviews about the food and service as, at least in my case, I've found both to be excellent...
