Went to iron chef for lunch twice during the 50% promotion. The first time, there were a full cart but still limited in choices as you would expect from a typical weekend yum cha range. If you come after 1pm on a week day expect even less choices or none at all. It appears they only prepare a certain amount each day. I kept an eye on the how the 3 old ladies were charging the table. The bill was exhorbant but the 50% off was more palatable considering there weren't many choices. The 3 old ladies as aunties as some referred to in the other reviews display professional selective hearing and pretend to hear you but deep down they just ignore your requests. On this day, Service was abit chaotic with lots of people running around for a half empty restaurant. The woman calculating the final bill has a big mouth and equally a bad attitude. On my second dining yum cha, I came in at 2pm. I asked for some dipping sauce (soy sauce or chilli, it didn't matter to me, so long I had some) to 3 different old ladies, they all nod their heads to get some. 15 mins later nothing arrived. By this time I asked 1 of the lady to see the cart, they were nearly empty with just buns, some chives hargow, prawn hargow and pork dim sim and the platter of rice rolls with prawns. There wasnt much so I had the last tripe basket. Feeling hungry I gave the chives and prawn hargow a go, abit dry as it late in day but eatable. I asked 1 of the old lady whether there were anything else to eat, in particular I asked for chicken feet and tendons. She said she'll check the kitchen and return saying there is none left. I accepted it and try to eat the 4 basket I ordered. The sauce by now still hasn't arrive until I ask the man (appears to be a senior member) for some dipping sauce. He miraculously delivered. Around 2 30pm another (Asian) gentleman rocked in and he too appears disappointed as there wasn't much to eat but he appear at least more Asian than me so One of the old lady quickly came out and ask what he wanted, he told her chicken feet and tripe. This gentleman sat right behind me and the old lady oddly asked me what I wanted to order, I told her chicken feet and tendons. Long Story short, the gentleman behind me got his chicken feet and tripe cooked fresh in the kitchen and delivered to him while I was ignored and my order never arrived. As I haven't finished my bill was hastily calculated and I was told to pay up. This is a passive message by the old lady to leave. I paid up and left while the gentleman that came after me got his order which I was originally told, the kitchen is not cooking any more for the day. I never had my last 2 orders, service was atrocious by those 3 clumsy old lady. On the bill, the same 2 hargows I ordered a week ago was marked "large" which should be $10.80 each but on this occasion, the lady marked "special" which pushed my final bill for 4 basket of yum cha to $54.10. This alone is blatant rip off if wasnt for the 50% promotion. Overall, my experience in the second sitting showed their service by the 3 old ladies are rude, disrespectful and ignorant. Their billing is doubtful and dishonest and overpriced for very little menu. I won't be coming back with this...

ridiculous service and one lady was very rude while the other was doing her job in timely manner. The rude lady simply stamped the card after serving the dish and my sister and her daughter both said "thank you" and she turned her back on our table. Like as if she's annoyed. It's not our fault she doesn't like the job, and the MAIN CAUSE OF THIS are the TABLE SET UPS.
table set ups are NOT organised. I was watching how they pushed the trolleys and they couldn't even push it around smoothly like all other yum cha places do. Look at the table set up and try to compare how they operate. Look at the differences in table row set ups too, and you will know what I mean. It's stressful for the staffs pushing the trolley around which causes them to lead to bad customer service.
atmosphere wasn't really good with how the tables were set up. Too many tables taking up the space.
recommended dishes:- -Fried glutinous dumplings (haarm sou gok) in Cantonese.
siu mai (dim Sims)
fried taro dumplings (Wu gok)
haa cheurng (prawn wrapped in flat rice noodles with slight sweet soya sauce)
steamed custard bun
Chicken feet was average. Ribs were cold when they were served. Egg tarts were ridiculously small and have a hole in the middle. Egg tarts normally are covered on surface. And the pastry wasn't good either.
Tripe wasn't good quality. Haa gow (steamed prawn dumplings) were very tiny compared to other yum cha places.
AND THEIR 40% OFF DEAL?? DO NOT TRUST IT. ITS A TRAP AND A RIP OFF.
If you want to go yum cha DONT GO TO IRON CHEF go to Cabra Vale Diggers instead
Or just go to the cafe at Bonnyrigg Plaza. It was that cafe that fixed our mood and good coffee too. (Caffe Cherry Beans)
Never will trust iron chef again, even the one at Cabramatta near the train station. Never liked their service or food...
