Katsu Sushi Train Beecroft — Restaurant in Sydney

My friend and I went in at 1:30pm on a Friday. It was empty except for the two of us. A very young boy came to take our orders a few minutes later, I ordered 2 tempura udons. The first one came out at 1:55pm and the second one was no where in sight. We tried to flag down staff but the entire restaurant was emptied. Over half an hour goes by and finally the family who runs the restaurant finally come back. I asked the little boy where the second bowl of udon was and he goes back to his Mom then shoots us an agitated look and says, "It's coming! It's coming!" Like it was unreasonable for me to question where our order was almost an hour after we placed the order.

Finally the second bowl of udon comes and my friend and I began to eat. I've eaten enough Japanese food during my 5 years of working in Japan to know that it was packaged udon, premade soup and frozen premade tempura. The soup needed to be diluted more because it was way too salty to drink and the frozen tempura was still cold and raw in the center.

For $12.95 I would rather go down to Woolies and get instant ramen and frozen veg.

When I went to pay, the only adult in the restaurant who I am assuming is the mum of the little boy and the boss, gave me a tight smile and not even a thank you. She didn't apologise for the ridiculous wait nor offer a discount of some kind.

Save you craving for Japanese food and go to a place that is owned and run by Japanese people because you will be wasting your time and money here.

Small sushi train restaurants, family owned and run. The food was so-so, unfortunately some would have been sitting there for a while, especially the fried dishes (spring rolls and potatoe croquettes that we had were soft, cold and soggy).

A good sign of any restaurant is the turnover of fresh dishes and how busy it is. We did arrive early for dinner, and I felt the hot dishes should be cooked prior to opening for dinner, not left on the belt all afternoon.

Prices were reasonable, not too expensive. Menu seem extensive, which we didn't order, we selected from the conveyor belt. Service was hit-and-miss, but friendly overall.

Visiting a "Live Sushi Train" was long pending on my list and finally we visited Katsu Sushi Train Beecroft NSW for a mid-week lunch. The prices are reasonable.... taste is good.... preparations are fresh. However it was a lean business weekday and restaurant was less crowded.... so many of the Sushi varieties were not presented on Live Sushi Train but these were available immediately upon request. It's a must experience outlet for everyone who likes Sushi, Sashimi & Nigiri. We also ordered a Chicken Ramen Lunch bowl purely out of our foodie greed and we didn't regret that either.
