Came down for dinner for the first time the other night and it was generally a good experience.

Food: Menu options and the quality of the food was good and delicious. Flavoursome and cooked nicely. Portion sizes were really quite decent for the price so it was good we didn’t feel like the restaurant cheaped out on us.

Service: The foot traffic wasn’t particularly high so naturally the ample floor staff were very attentive and the service was good and met all expectations. I would be interested to see how things go if it gets very busy but so far so good.

Timings: We ordered a Pad Kee Mow and Pad See Ew and grilled pork jowls. The noodles came out together at a decent time but we were about 2/3rds of the way through the noodles before the pork came. The pork was done very well and was delicious but I suspect there may be a slightly understaffed kitchen. That being said I do understand that balancing the number of people you hire and the amount of foot traffic you have is a delicate task. The timings as a result I would not consider egregious and certainly understandable. I would be interested to see how things turn out as the restaurant continues to secure its footing.

Atmosphere: The decor and general environment was comfortable and the utensils and plates/cups were all clean so this was very nice indeed. Background music choice was a good match for casual dining. I did think that however the loud banging and clanging from the very hard working chef to be a bit of a distraction after a while. Don’t get me wrong - if the chef continues to turn out delicious food as result - then go for it. But it did get a little comical towards the end of our meal..

Overall very good and competitive in terms of quality of food, service, atmosphere, and pricing that is comparative to other Thai restaurants in the Eastern suburbs and to those in the City.

Little Bay (and this shop in particular) has always been challenging for restaurants so good luck with it all. We will be coming back for...

I was thrilled when a new Thai restaurant opened in Little Bay and couldn't wait to have dinner there with my friends. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by poor customer service. There were four of us, and we each ordered a different meal. Three dishes arrived, but one was missing. Despite asking about it twice, we had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the last dish. To make matters worse, the meals were served without any cutlery, so I had to fetch it from the counter myself. Having worked in hospitality, I understand that every business can have an off day, so I decided to give the restaurant another chance. Sadly, the second visit was even worse. We ordered drinks that never arrived, and although there were five of us, we were only given four glasses for water. When we asked for an extra glass, the waitress brought it with her finger inside the glass! That's unacceptable, even at home.

This time, the cutlery was provided promptly, but when my husband asked for chopsticks, the waiter seemed surprised and asked, "You don't want to use a fork?" I was shocked that the restaurant could operate with such a lack of understanding of proper customer service. It seems their main focus is on takeaway sales. I must say, though, that the food...

This is the best authentic Thai food I have tasted in Little Bay, Matraville, LaPa, Chifley, Maroubra area. This is just what the neighbourhood needed. We went for a family birthday dinner. Table of 6 including 4 adults, 2 young kids + 1 kid in a high chair. They were very accommodating to the high chair request and were very knowledgeable and thorough of our dietary requirements of no peanuts due to an allergy and even spice rankings. Both young gentlemen were great with service as well as one of the females leading in the kitchen. The Head Chef clearly is skilled! Everything we ordered was tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. Only minor suggestion is to provide serving spoons for each dish for dishes expected to be shared but again a very small critique. We ordered the crab spring rolls, Massaman Curry with roti, Pad Thai, Chicken Cashew Nut Stir Fry, Fried Garlic and Pepper Whole Fish and homemade Coconut Icecream for dessert. This is the best Thai in the area by far and we are so happy they have joined the neighbourhood! Definitely a returning customer here! ...

Went to Khao Thai for lunch. They have a lunch menu which includes a drink with reasonable price. They also have a whole fish lunch special which looks interesting and will have to return for that. Had their tom yum fried rice with chicken for the lunch special. Flavours were on point and had a good tom yum flavour. Also ordered off the a la carte menu their chicken bomb which is crispy chicken with cashew nuts and chilli jam, which was excellent, and so was their pad prik king crispy pork belly which had a nice flavour as well. Staff were very friendly. Will surely return.

I recently visited the restaurant and ordered two dishes: chicken satay and chicken Pad Thai. The chicken satay was delicious, with tender chicken and a flavourful peanut sauce that really hit the spot. However, the chicken Pad Thai, while tasty, could benefit from a bit less salt and sugar in the sauce. A slightly lighter touch would have made the dish more balanced. Overall, Khao Thai offers a nice dining experience, but with a little adjustment to the Pad Thai, it could be even better. I’d still recommend giving it a try for those who enjoy authentic Thai flavour.

Great food. They can do gluten free, suitable for a very sensitive coeliac. Food is yummy. Sometimes it can be quite loud inside with cooking and all the people talking over each other as it is a large restaurant. Outside seating is available too. In summer I prefer to sit outside and enjoy the quiet. Kids love it here too.
