I want to give a try again though. Itâs my first time eating Colombian food and it was underwhelming.
We ordered the Best Seller arepa, Picada Colombiana, and a quesadilla.
The real winner of the arepa was the shredded beef. The flavours of the sauce plus the tenderness of the beef make it a good bite on the arepa. Plus with all the other ingredients of the Best Seller, expect a flavour and texture experience on every bite.
I love the plantains (both the sweet and green one) from the picada. Paired with the dips/condiments provided, you can have this as a light meal with good coffee and you can be filled up.
The disappointing note for me on our order was the texture of both arepa and quesadillas. They were dry and itâs almost hard on the bite.
We also felt that the portions were a bit small for the price we paid but we can understand since ingredients may have been sourced directly from Colombia.
Key thing to be improved: service. They were only two groups during one dine but it took around 25 minutes for our food to be served. The positive take is that the server was very polite and apologetic of the delay.
I hope to return to this place and hopefully a much better...
Read moreMerchant would not honour their Groupon menu items as advertised in Groupon. Made me select lower priced menu items and said it was an error from Groupon...which I highly doubt it as la Latina would have reviewed the Groupon ad before posting. Misleading merchant and false advertising. Voucher for 4 people said I would be getting food worth up to $120....which included 2 empanadas per person, and a main plate like tamales. However we actually got 1 empanada per person ($3.60), and another dish worth ($12) and a cheap bottle of woolies water or coke (when they had a range of nice Latin soft drinks in the fridge). So around $16 in value. Groupon stated âempanadaSâ and âenjoy dishes like tamalesâ and âany soft drinkâ not âcoke or water onlyâ. If they had properly advertised the food items on offer I wouldnât have bought the Groupon to begin with! Never return.
And the Groupon deal states:
Starter each: empanadas with shredded beef, cheese, or chicken Main each: tamales | corrientazo | pebellon on plate Soft drink each: green tea | Lulo | Kola
I was only able to get 1 empanada. Not allowed to get any of those mains, and only allowed...
Read moreI have never gone out of my way to give a bad review, but this was honestly horrid. I bought a chicken arepa and it was so watery it made the bread soggy. The chicken had no flavour, the bread was hard but also completely soaked. I also got another chicken on rice dish with egg and beans, and it also had no flavour. I was highly disappointed as the other reviews for this place was so good. The caramel desert we got tasted like it was plane food and the texture was like an actual toilet sponge. Service was okay and I do feel bad but this food was seriously next level bad. My blind grandma who can barely walk could have made something nicer. I understand that this is supposed to be authentic food but surely it isnât, because I wouldnât feed this to a starving dog. Not to mention the prices! For 2 mains, 1 side, a drink and a desert was 80$?! Thatâs insane! In terms of the service, it was okay and I do feel bad for the lady working, sorry for the terrible review but it is truly just a reflection...
