As a family we always come to Persian Basement, however the last 2 times we have come, the service quality has gone down drastically. The waiters do not bring food to one table at the same time, we have to wait for so long until we can eat, drinks were not provided even though we had asked for it so many times. Once we had finished eating the tables were not cleaned, we sat with our table all messy waiting for dessert. Speaking about dessert it also was not given to everyone, some kids had ice cream while others didn't so we had some upset kids. We were also celebrating a birthday, our cake came but not plates or forks were provided, we had to go chase it up. This whole experience has been horrible, we all are disappointed. For years we have been happy but last two times it's really changed. I can say our whole family won't be coming again. Slow and horrible service!

Interesting place with unique food offerings. Went for lunch one day (so have no idea about dinner). The dining area is massive so it looks like it was designed for functions. For lunch they have a bain marie type setup with pre-prepared food waiting to be ordered. We tried a few of the chicken dishes (one was a square box looking thing of chicken and rice). They have multiple varieties of rice to choose from. Seating area is quite comfortable, and lots of room. Big window seats, but the view is of a car park. Food was nice, but the box shaped chicken rice was a bit dry. Service is friendly

Last night, my friends and I went to Persian Basement, and it was amazing! The kebabs were juicy, the stews were rich and flavorful, and everything tasted authentic. The bar was also impressive—lots of fresh and delicious cold appetizers, plus a great selection of drinks at really reasonable prices. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, with soft Persian music, and the staff were super friendly. If you’re looking for great Persian food and drinks in Sydney, Persian Basement is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back!

How about I post a photo of the receipt? will that work with your ‘Fake’ theory? With every response you prove you Bully your customers! You are still the lowest rated Persian restaurant in Sydney – Competitors don’t need to write fake reviews, you’re bringing down your own business by allowing the rude disgusting OWNER to disrespect his customers. I have deleted nothing, I screenshot all posts because I knew you would LIE as you have done to others. The unbalanced is holding a buffet and then telling your customers not to eat???!!! then calling a negative review a ‘vicious act’?! Why don’t you get over it or better yet DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Don’t sit there in denial trying to convince people the 1 star reviews are ‘fake’ (which makes me think you got your mates to write all the 5 star reviews) I have a lot of time to make sure people know when they visit your restaurant they will have the WORST DINING EXPERIENCE they have ever had, and the owner will Intimidate and stare them down when they go to the buffet. And how would you have any idea of my contribution to my community or my age? especially if your trying to convince people this is a ‘fake’ review. You know exactly who I am, if not I am sad for all the people he intimidated! You’re really out of touch with reality, people are not stupid they will read this because yes Karma is real and this is what it looks like!

ORIGINAL REVIEW Owner stands over customers and tells them not to fill their plate at a Buffett! Worst dining experience I have ever had. On my very first trip to the buffet as I was putting food on my plate I heard the owners voice speaking over me, I look up and he is staring straight at me with a stern look on his face and saying “do not fill your plate, leave some for other guests” I was shocked this was my first trip to the buffet, there was hardly anyone there, no line and my plate was half empty. I then explained I am getting food for both my husband and children who can’t leave he table. He persisted to say I need to leave food for other guests. I felt disgusted really unwelcomed and wanted to leave straight away but we had driven nearly 2 hours and were meeting guests. Speechless I went back to my table, my husband could see I was upset and I explained to him what happened. He spoke with the owner and said he would come over to apologize. A while later he comes over stands over me again and says “Did I upset you?” before I could finish talking he interrupted me so I would stop talking and proceeded to tell me everything he did at the buffet and explained why he said what he said? I couldn’t get a word in. Hardly an apology!

So if you’re reading this now here is what you need to know.

DO NOT HAVE A BUFFET if you cannot handle customers filling their plate…Remember YOU CHOSE to advertise a buffet.

NEVER tell your customer not to fill their plate, that is disgusting behaviour and there is no excuse for it, people come to your establishment to enjoy themselves and have a good time not to be intimidated by the owner on how much they eat when they first arrive! People don’t care what the last people did.

GET AWAY from the buffet, people can feel you watching them fill up their plates and you are putting them off and loosing customers. It’s clear you have an issue with how much people are eating, if you can’t handle it remove yourself from the business before you lose it.

if you don’t want to serve people any longer SELL THE BUSINESS or retire and move on. Iranians are known for their hospitality you seem to be over it because your behaviour at your own establishment is an...

Hi everyone, I don’t normally like to leave bad feedback for anyone as it can definitely damage the business and Their reputation. In my first visit to this so called Persian Resturant I faced the shock of my life I’ve seen bad Persian restaurants but this one deserves a medal. After searching the internet in finding a nice Persian Resturant in Sydney as I am a visitor, I found this Resturant which looked very inviting after reading all the false advertising on their website. Anyhow I booked the restaurant for Saturday night and was told it was a set menu. Throughout the night the Resturant was very empty which we later realised why. As soon as I arrived a Lebanese waiter approached us who was very polite and nice and asked if we were ready to eat, once we said yes the entree was brought out within a minute. It was 4 dips that was very poorly presented and tasted absolutely shocking, they also brought some chicken wings that were raw and not cooked. We tried one and nearly threw up. Then the waiter approached us and asked if we were ready for the main, once we said yes the waiter returned within a minute with the main Which obviously shows everything was prepared the night before. We received 2 small servings of rice for me and my family which was very cold. Don’t get me started on the kebabs. They were very cold, way too spicy for Persian food and raw in the middle. Also the coke cola was flat and looked like non genuine Aldi cola. We were looking to complain to Someone when we saw this old lady who looked like the owner so we raised the complaint to her and she seemed to get very upset and she said all our food is cooked on the spot which is why it takes so long but obviously ours was cooked on the spot the night before which is why it came out in 2 seconds. Instead of apologizing she said she was going to talk to the manager to see if I could go to the back and see the food being made, after she left she totally ignored and avoided us the rest of the night. Then we called the Lebanese waiter and asked if we could have the desert and when he saw the plates still full of food he asked if we would like to take it away at which we point we asked why don’t you have an empty rubbish bin here. That’s when he realised we weren’t happy with the food. When the desert came we were sorry that we asked for it. The ice cream was nothing close to Persian ice cream god knows whose creation that was, the fallode was only crushed ice which we could not touch at all. So we got up went to the counter which is were the old lady was at which point we paid and told her it was absolutely shocking and won’t be coming back. In conclusion the short old lady who was the owner was rude, ugly her clothing looked very dirty and unpresentable. We will be sure to report this to the councils health department. We strongly recommend to keep away from this site due to the bad presentation shocking food and poor service. No wonder hardly anyone goes there. For further clarification we have pictures and recordings available for any one who wishes for further information. Kind Regards, Ripped...

We went to Persian Basement for lunch on Saturday 19th of Jan. The sign indicated that the restaurant was "Open", but no staff were there to greet us, nor were there any diners present. Finally, we saw a lady speaking on her mobile, walking around. When she finally finished her conversation, I asked her if they were open, and she replied yes. We ordered "bademjun with yellow split peas" and "Momtaz kebab" with "Shirazi salad". We waited. And waited and waited. After 25 minutes, she returned with the salad (which was greatly overpriced, for the portion given) and a jug of water. We had to wait another 10 minutes for the main dishes to arrive, and by then, we had already finished the salad as we were very hungry. During our meal we couldn't help but overhear the loud mobile phone conversations of one of the staff members walking around the restaurant. The worst experience, however, came when my husband cried out in pain - he had found two pieces of small stone in his food amongst the yellow split peas. We called the waitress and showed her the two pieces of stone (one of them the size of the peas). She apologised and said that she would mention it to the chef. I asked her also to bring the bill as we were getting late for our appointment. After 5 minutes she returned with the bill but no explanation as to the stones, nor discount for the ruined meal. In brief, it was one of the worst dining experiences I had, with absolutely abysmal customer service, and greatly overpriced for the quality and quantity of the dishes ordered. I am well-acquainted with and a great fan of Persian cuisine, but for us this was definitely our last visit to...
